There has been a few post over the last few months from folks that bought a GWM-5610 and were confused as to what the watch was supposed to be packaged in. Folks were expecting a G-Shock tin but got a box

I just got a GWM-5610 from The Casio Store on eBAY. This is an official Casio run store (Casio USA owns it). The watch came in a black(with red accents) G-Shock cardboard box with a black plastic stand. So for those that get this watch and it comes in a cardboard box, that is the correct packaging.

Casio is strange with their packaging. They ship the G-Shock G-2310 from the factory in a metal tin. But they ship the more expensive GW-2310 in a box like the GWM-5610

I think if Casio ships it to direct customers, they would use the paper box

if they ship it to retailers, then, the G goes into those metal tin
because it's representation for the reputation or something like that

I bought mine from Kohl's department store within the last couple weeks. July 2020 production. Came in a cheap box like pictured above.
