Where does one buy such cheap Vostoks?

3048 Views 16 Replies 14 Participants Last post by  arjansinghrakhra
Im new to the watch thing, and naturally I've been researching and watching youtube videos, and I always see people say how Vostok watches are so cheap and all. Or that vostok has 30 dollar automatics. But where? How? What are they talking about? They are literally 200 dollars + wherever I search. I honestly feel scammed by where I live, everything has like some kind of mystical "watch tax". So where do I find those elusive "30 dollar" vostok automatics?

$30 for an automatic, I think you're going used on ebay, not what I'd recommend for a newbie.

Normally they are about $40-ish for a manual wind (Komandirskie) and $75-ish for an automatic (Amphibia), plus shipping. Ebay seller Zenitar and meranom.com are the only sellers I've bought from, and I can recommend both.

Have you ever heard about "Meranom"?

Vostok Inc is about the cheapest you will find them brand new. Around $50 plus shipping for Automatic Classic Amphibias. It's the manual winding Komandirskies that go for $30.

I'm not sure what calculations anyone is using but $30 and $50? Where?

Amazon. $105 shipped for a K65. Up to $140 on some 24hr models. With the only watches not taking months to show up. Listed under their Prime.

Most of the websites have their inventory listed on Amazon.

Komandirskie for $30 at soviet.market, and I've grabbed a couple on sale at 10% off, in the past.

They got Amphibia at $72, but komandirskie.com has them at USD conversion from Russian Ruble at about $64.

Honestly, for watches this cheap, unless I'm buying a bunch at at time, I'm just as happy paying a bit more at Meranom.
Vostok Inc
Meranom.com
Komandirskie.com
Amazon

These are the best places. The nice thing about Amazon is the return policy.

I have four Vostok Komandirskies and love them dearly.
Great watches, low cost, durable, accurate, you can even use them as beaters and not worry about it due to the relative low cost.

Where do you live that a Vostok costs USD 200 ?!

I have ordered from Zenitar on Ebay, delivered within two weeks (to Euro continent). No worries. Paid USD 76.- for an Amphibian.

When Zenitar went "offline" for a few months, I ordered from another ebay store with 99% positive rating, again it was delivered within two weeks, no worries, still had all the stickers attached. Paid USD 72.- for a Komandirskie with 200m water resistance (essentially an Amphibian).
I own nine Vostoks. paid almost $150 for a 170894 and $175 for a 170863 a few months back. $160 for a 086492 and $120 for a 020708. For various reasons I was willing to pay much more than the Meranom price for those four. The other five were all less than $90 shipped to my door. I live in the USA and buy from here if I can simply to get the watch into my hands more quickly.

I don't think I've ever seen a working Vostok selling for $30. In fact, I'd be afraid to buy a $30 auto that wasn't Chinese- most watchmaking countries would charge you $30 for a sun dial...

Vostoks cost what they do not because they suck, but because they're using mid 20th century tech and tooling, and no marketing budget. They're not thin, the bezels are friction, the crystals are acrylic, and the dials are (mostly) painted. None of that is a matter of quality, but of either taste (the dial) or era (everything else). As I understand it, the cases are a mildly lesser grade of SS, if that matters. Overall, In my experience, they have been better, more durable watches than their cost. I paid more than MSRP for most of mine and would have paid a bit more. Now, their price is definitely why I have nine of them and not two or three --I'm learning to tinker with them and I don't mind much if an $85 watch ends up trashed-- but I guess I'm saying all that to say that I think you should probably be prepared to spend at least $100 to get a new Vostok, and consider any savings beyond that as icing on the cake.

Unless you need to have it fast, there is no need to pay $100 for a classic Amphibia when the factory themselves are selling it for half of that.
Vostokinc has the best prices.

Vostok-Watches24 Authorized dealer and service partner of the Russian VOSTOK watch manufacture . It is a one Man run website based out of germany that has great catalogue and customer service. After the Ukraine Russia war this was one of the cheapest websites I could get a watch from ( in India where I live). The watches are known to be indestructible and hence a little bit of damage on the package was not a huge concern for me what was though or custom duties had to be paid to the government authorities for almost half the price of the watch self just beware of that. Unlike Amazon or eBay it takes a while to ship mine took about two weeks.
