I saw a recent post that asked if there are enough polls on the forum. The overwhelming majority voted "no" so I'm adding another one to help satisfy everyone. I'm looking for a blue dial sporty/dive watch with a budget of up to $10k. I think I've got it narrowed down to these two, but can't decide which one. Which would you choose and why?

Or if you have another suggestion, please feel free to throw it into the ring. My requirements are:

  • Blue dial
  • No chronographs
  • Must be a automatic chronometer
  • Doesn't matter if movement is in house or not
  • Prefer the sporty/dive look, not too dressy
  • Must be on bracelet
  • Case size no larger than 42mm, my wrist size is about 6.25"
  • No Omegas (nothing against them, but I already own a few pieces)
  • No Breitlings (nothing against them, but I already own a few pieces)
  • Budget of $10k, new, not preowned

I think the Platinum/SS Yacht-master you have exceeds your budget. I would choose the Date Adjust II anyway. If your not set on blue I can make a good case for the Green Sub C LV:

This has the updated bracelet with glide-lock which has not made it's way to the Yacht-master.

I'm not really a fan of either. I'd check out the blue bp fifty fathoms.

I didn't think it would turn out this way, but I much prefer the Yachmaster. Nice bezel, too.

Something about modern DJ dials--with too many fat, rectangular, lume-filled markers--rubs me the wrong way.

Datejust, I tried the Yacht Master the other day, did nothing for me.
Wow, Datejust is running away with this one. Thanks for your votes.

I'd be willing to stretch my budget a bit if I went for the YM. The hulk is definitely a nice piece, but I'm going to stick with blue. Thanks for posting.

Neither for me, but if I had to choose it would be the DJII. It's just too big IMO for that style of watch.
