Just saw the new Bond flick. So is it official then? The PO has replaced the SMP as the new Bond watch?

I saw Bond wearing the original Bond Seamaster later in the film. Maybe he has a winder in his Aston DBs.

Did anyone also notice the poker dealer at Casino Royale was rockin' a red dial Schumacher Legend?

HAHAHA!!! :-D

Overall opinion on the movie? I've heard good things, but don't know if it's worth seeing in the theater, or waiting 'til DVD

No, there are actually now two "official" Bond watches. The black 45.5mm Planet Ocean on a rubber strap is what Bond wore with more casual attire, and the new Bond Seamaster model 2220.80 is what he wore with his tuxedo in the casino scenes. In fact, he wore the new Bond SMP with casual attire as well later on in the film. He really went back and forth between the two watches. Omega's website lists both watches as James Bond models here:

See how clever Omega is with their marketing? Now you have to buy TWO $3000+ watches if you want to be cool enough to play secret agent. :-D

Haha , how true!

Yes it is a cracking film - go and see it. I saw it last weekend and would go again to see it in the cinema if I could find the time. It depends on your take on Bond as to whether it pushes all the right buttons, but either way it is a good, grown up, action film. Not enough close-ups on the watches for a true WIS though.

Nigel

I'm waiting for the day when they rotate ALL the Omega watches into his arsenal. Aqua Terra with a business suit, De Ville in a casino, Railmaster on a train (like in Goldeneye), Moonwatch in outer space (Moonraker!), PO or Apnea while diving, Connie at St. Andrews, SMP everywhere else.

Why not? Then we could all play Bond.

Hum lets see, I think I have the solution for both...

watches. Now I only need one to be casual and at the same time be dressy in my tuxedo..

There's a booklet from Omega around (at least in Europe) that shows you all the watches in the film. There's more than Bond and the dealer - go and see it again ;-)

I really liked the casual one he wore in the movie, excellent Bond by the way, but ***** why does Omegas cost so much? My most expensive watch is my Oris pictured below and my Omega is a 50´s seamaster which is a nice dress watch. My main collection is.....russian, go figure;-)

The one he wears in the casino is too elaborate in dial design if you ask me and my teachers salary makes it an hypothetical reasoning concerning which to chooseO|

Has someone tried the Tissot Seastar, is it a good watch? Didn´t mean to offend any Omega owners by this question:roll:

The boring thing about Seamasters in Sweden is that the only one buying them is fresh yuppies who don´t know so much about watches but wants a fancy one, so it´s the most worn prestige watch in my country which makes it somewhat common albeit very good watch.

Erik

I have a Tissot I wear around my house. My Omegas go on for the office and going out, but the Tissot is on the second I walk in the door. It gets ABUSED. I wear it when working in my wood working shop and it gets hit/banged/scraped etc etc etc. Great watch. Good looking, and to be honest, I get more comments on it the rare time I wear it out than I do on my Omegas. My heart will always be with Omega, but I am a huge Tissot fan. Great great bang for your buck.
