Years ago I started my watch hobby by first owning an SKX, and then subsequently delving into higher quality Seikos in the under $1k range such as the Sumo, Turtle, Samurai etc..., before moving to Swiss brands. Coming back full circle with the pull of the upcoming 2020 Seiko release reminded me how much I enjoyed these aforementioned watches. I would like to hear from the community what is your favorite Seiko from each watch category that are also under $1,000.

Diver: SKX009 (beater watch that looks even better when worn, love the red / blue contrast and the history of the watch)
Dress: SARB065 (simple, yet the dial adds a bit of texture unlike plain-dial dress watches)
One-watch: SBDC007 (SKX009 is my favorite diver, but if I had to pick only one watch, I'm going with the Shogun with the titanium bracelet for everyday wear)
Exploration: SPB089 (unique design and amazing dial, this would be in my collection if I didn't own blue dials from other brands)
White Dial: SARY105 (texture from the dial and power reserve indicator are a nice touch)
2020 Release: SPB147 (perfect dimensions with a unique gilt dial and rubber strap offering)

Mecaquartz SII chrono: SZSJ005

I am in the around $2000 category, but if I had to pick a GADA around $1000 it would be this one:

Seiko SBBN031 - dual rate trimmers, serviceable movement, 7 jeweled high torque movement solely designed for the tuna 'saturation' divers, most unique watch out there with amazing history, lume that drives my wife crazy at night, battery life of 5 years but most folks get much more than that, and it's my only and last Seiko in my collection so I don't have a say on other categories besides a divers watch. Just @ $1,000 bucks and it keeps +1 second per week.

My list:

Diver - Sumo
Field - Alpinist
Dress - Cocktail Time
Chrono - Vintage, Pogue or UFO, can't decide.
One watch - probably the Alpinist because it can dress up but also has 200m water resistance.
