I am considering the Seiko Veletura SNAE17 quartz (Velatura - Alarm Chronograph | SEIKO CORPORATION OF AMERICA ) or the TechnoMarine Model 909001 TechnoMarine 909001 | Ashford.com.

Cost for either one is less than $400.00. I like the look of the TechnoMarine a little better, but I value quality very much. Is there much of a quality difference between the two watches?

Really? I have a couple and I don't hate them. I actually like them quite a bit. In this instance, I would choose the Seiko over that particular Technomarine. That's me. Of course, buy what you like.

If I am not mistaken, Technomarine's history was they wanted to create a company that could market interesting quartz watches that would be bought as souvenirs by tourists. The brand began in 1997. When comparing that to Seiko's history, you don't have much of a comparison. However, none of that really matters if you prefer the look of the Technomarine. I am sure they make well made watches.

I'd go Seiko. The Velatura has such a cool case, and well, in terms of reputation for quality, not much of a contest. The TM doesn't look bad either though, although that crown guard is atrocious imho.

People hate on Technomarine because it is seen as a fashion watch. Quite honestly, technomarines are very well built and solid watches. I own two and love them. In fact they're the only quartz pieces I have left in my collection.

They get a lot of undeserved hate IMO, they make a decent watch
