My Attesa Chrono had a ratcheting toolless micro adjust clasp.

 

They are about the same as Seiko. Some models have OK micro-adjust holes. Some only have 2 sets (like the old SARB033 clasp). Some, especially their high end stuff like Chronomaster have none (like most GS).

 

I don't know why. None of my watches have micro-adjustment but would probably be nice to have.

 

My Tsuyosa has 3 which is the norm for many watches.

 

To make you feel better, this $7K Tag Monaco doesn't have them either....

Yup. If that is important to you, just buy one that has this. Most of mine do.

 

Seiko does the same thing, not just Citizen. I cannot answer your question as to why, but I do share in your frustration and feel that a good means of micro adjustment should be mandatory on any bracelet, with tool-free adjustment being best. Citizen does offer a few watches with tool free adjustment, my Challenge Diver reissue being one of them

 

Spicy take: excess micro adjust just makes clasps big and clunky—we are better off without it.

 

 

I like having choices. I hate bulky clasps. The only bracelets I wear have no microadjusts.

 

Its interesting to see some folks not like micro-adjustment holes in the clasp. I had the Citizen CB1110, the best watch I have had, and sold it only because it didnt have any micro-adjust holes and I couldnt get a good fit. Maybe I have OCD, but I never wear watches that dont fit perfectly on my wrist

I now have the Citizen CB3010 which has a clasp about the size of the Sarb033 clasp, but has 3 positions of tool-less micro-adjust.

 

Why Does Citizen Not Have Micro Adjustment?

Only Citizen will be able to give you a reliable answer.
But if you wear your watch “classically”¹, then you don't need a micro-adjustment, which only makes the clasp unnecessarily large.

¹ The bracelet is adjusted so loosely that you can still slide a finger limb between the clasp and the wrist.

 

Micro adjustments are over rated for me personally. My most comfy bracelet is a Grand Seiko with a tiny and extremely comfy clasp sans adjustment, other than half links. My least comfy bracelet has a large, on the fly adjustment mechanism.

Consider yourself lucky - people like myself and @iheartwatches10, who aren't quite as fortunate, may agonise over a wonderful watch that causes us discomfort due to its not being able to be adjusted "just so", which is how, unfortunately - I hate being fussy over things myself if I can help it - people like us require them...

 

It’s a predicament. Once you have a good fit, you don’t need micro adjustment anymore. Then the clunky clasp is just an annoyance. The problem is, that sometimes you just can’t get a good fit without micro adjustment 🤷‍♂️

 

That’s actually not true. For a lot of us our wrists swell and contract, depending upon the heat and humidity. So perfect fit in the morning could be tight in the afternoon.
