Do so many sellers in the US seem only prepared to sell to others in the CON US. It is a real downer for us folk elsewhere, if we are inhibited by this straight away when looking at a sales advert.
I can understand prospective sellers, wanting to protect themselves from overseas scammer. But surely Paypal is a very safe method and protects the seller, as well as the buyer. Just an observation folks!

Sorry if this is in the wrong place Mods.

Hi, I actually have sold and purchased watches from the states to GB and Scandinavia. The problem I have is you can't insure them (unless you have a private co. do it $$$ for there value) and tracking stops at the border. I am happy to send things anywhere but I always ask for a release from liability. In the states it can be tracked. I have had good luck so far to Europe. I got scre#*d bad on one from the middle east. I will not ship there for any reason. Just my experience.

For me, it's the shipping. US Postal won't let us ship watches via EMS or any other method except registered mail (slow!). If we ignore the regulations and ship anyway (which I admittedly do), our insurance is worthless.

FedEx and UPS are prohibitively expensive. I can ship U.S. Postal to most places for $50 or less via EMS. FedEx and UPS often cost over $100.

For those of us who do ship outside the U.S., our terms often are 1) buyer assumes all risk of loss and/or 2) buyer pays actual FedEx or UPS shipping.

It's not that we're snobbish or anything, it's just that our affordable options are limited. ;-)

all the replies don't make sense... if the buyer wants the watch and is paying for it and it's shipping, why would it matter how expensive the shipping is? the buyer is paying. i am in australia and will ship to the moon if someone asked, as long as they foot the bill.
And i would expect the same from any seller, if i am prepared to pay a ridiculous cost for shipping, why would any seller refuse my purchase

As per rules, no discussions in the Sales/WTT/WTB forums. Take it to one of our may discussion forums if you have something to ask/say. Not here. I would suggest those not familiar with our Sales/WTT/WTB forum rules to please read them. Each forum/sub-forum (Private sellers, Dealers, Strap Sales, Writing Implements) has its own set of rules, so take the time to read them. You can find them in the sticky at the top of the page when you visit the forum/sub-forum. - Moderator
