Morning all..

Was just thinking…I do it occasionally, it hurts but I keep trying.

Our Down under brothers have their own general thread, in which they discuss watch stuff in their part of the WUS World, which seems to be well used And updated.

How about we Brits, also a minority group on here, have our own one as well?

What do you think? All stuff UK related…..

I’ll start….

Recently bought a 30th Anniversary Frogman, which I am loving

Reflex camera Camera lens Digital camera Camera accessory Cameras & optics

Anyone else get one? I know @Simon was looking, @sticky was committed elsewhere (Lightweight that he is)

Also our esteemed @Bradjhomes popped up on a YouTube Q&A with Mike France about the new Fears jump hour watch…was kinda weird to hear someone I know, albeit virtually, on the big tube…

Over to you fellow Brits..is this a bad idea or a good one, I will leave it for you to mull over.

All the best

Clive.

I've watched the recording and see Mike answered my question (well, answered a question vaguely related to mine) on the Alliance Open Dial. I only managed to catch half of it live, so didn't see that bit.
Anyway...headed to a Red Bar event in London on Thursday. Anyone else attending?
How does one sign up to those events? The redbar website is borderlines useless and it all seems... secretive?
I think events are purposely secretive, so as not to attract the attention of uninvited guests. That said, I agree the website could be a little more informative.

I'm on the mailing lists for Red Bar London and Red Bar South East. Each one runs semi-regular events and once on the mailing list you'll be notified of dates, approximate locations and a teaser of the event. You can then reply to secure your place, and once secured you will get the full, detailed event information.

I'm not sure how I got on the lists in the first place though - possibly through their respective Instagram pages.

Count me in, although I'm more of a regular reader than anything else.
Based in Essex just outside the M25.

Here's my last purchase from December last year. It was a bit of a planned stretch for me, so this year I'm definitely meant to cut down on acquisitions. Which leads me to having a casual chat thread is better than anything.

In the last a few of us have arranged London GTGs - and I’ve been thinking about it again recently.

I know that’s not too close for some of you, although faiz - you’ve made it down to a couple I think?

Any interest, given enough notice?
Usually involves an upstairs room in a pub on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon

Yeah, I'd be up for that. I'm currently living Cardiff, so only 1:45 away but a fair warning would be good due to train prices etc (sobs at the recent passing of their 26-30 railcard)

Also up for a GTG on the correct side of Hadrian's Wall because I'm regualrly visting either my office in Glasgow or parents further north
(sobs at being waaay outside the range for that railcard even if it still existed)

I’ll bite… what is Redbar?
Enthusiast group with meet ups and events.

There are lots of reasons not to like Eddie/Timefactors...but for some reason I like the way he operates his shop on his own terms

I’m listening…

I’ll have a think and maybe float a few dates for a potential London GTG

I tend to wear my Sinn 809 on the basis it will be the only one in the room, and people who know it are keen to see it.

Let’s talk Bel Canto….

Anyone this side of the pond got one of the original few, or got an order in for the unlimited batch?

CW knocked it out of the park with this one……
No. I'd love to see (and hear) one.
Love the dial. Love the complication (I'm all for fun complications rather than a GMT I won't use). I still haven't seen any photos that make me think the case is up to the same mark as the dial and complication. It seems a bit...pedestrian.

Same here…the original looked great, but the new colours are a bit wishy washy for my liking.

That may change if I had them in hand though.…….
Same

If they had a burgundy, that would be a different story.

I absolutely loved this when I saw it, it seemed to get a bit of a cold reception on here though. Many weren't a fan of the small minutes track...I personally don't mind it at all, and find the design clean and quirky!
I never understand grown adults who need large numbers on a minute or hour track to be able to tell the time.
The markers a more than sufficient to know that it's 3.42.

So, a few members have mentioned GTGs in this thread.

I, along with a couple of others, have arranged many over the last 7 or 8 years. They have usually happened a couple of times a year, held in the upstairs room of a central London pub. They have generally taken place on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon for 3 or 4 hours - but due to the location people have often taken the opportunity to turn up early to grab lunch in the bar downstairs, or to stay for an extra pint or two afterwards.

Attendance has varied from 7 or 8 people, right up to 25.
People bring as few or as many watches as they are comfortable with. Cheap or expensive. All welcome. And everyone is just as enthusiastic about a £30 Sekonda as a Royal Oak.

After arranging over a dozen GTGs (and unsuccessfully trying for a few more), I would ideally like to pass this task on to someone else to arrange.

I would be more than happy to pass on the details of venues we have used, and a list of ‘regulars’ who would probably love to attend to get the ball rolling.

It sounds like we have the makings of a good London GTG here with some new and old faces…so, would anyone like to take up the mantle of organising a GTG for spring time?

A watch I was selling attracted enquiries from the US,Sadley I found international shipping to be very costly and depending on price difficult to insure.
I’ve tended to have good experience with DHL. Pricey (often £50), but insurance is fine up to a certain amount.

They do have different restrictions of coverage depending on service though, so always read carefully.

Those 595s were incredible. Great value too.

I think they suffered from the branding at the time being shifted to the left hand side and a slightly quirky font.

I imagine they didn’t sell well, but I think that’s as much due to branding as the desire for the watch itself.

I love a good G shock. They look cool, have great functions, and can handle anything. I've had quite a few.

They never stay around though. I guess as much as I like them, I just don't need one.

A DW-D5500 is my favourite.
