********WIS’ers In Blighty….UK********

Morning all..

Was just thinking…I do it occasionally, it hurts but I keep trying.

Our Down under brothers have their own general thread, in which they discuss watch stuff in their part of the WUS World, which seems to be well used And updated.

How about we Brits, also a minority group on here, have our own one as well?

What do you think? All stuff UK related…..

I’ll start….

Recently bought a 30th Anniversary Frogman, which I am loving

Reflex camera Camera lens Digital camera Camera accessory Cameras & optics

Anyone else get one? I know @Simon was looking, @sticky was committed elsewhere (Lightweight that he is)

Also our esteemed @Bradjhomes popped up on a YouTube Q&A with Mike France about the new Fears jump hour watch…was kinda weird to hear someone I know, albeit virtually, on the big tube…

Over to you fellow Brits..is this a bad idea or a good one, I will leave it for you to mull over.

All the best

Clive.

Got this one last April but have since discovered I prefer smaller watches and don't like straps

I was once pulling a plug gauge out of a conrod and tapped a boring bar that was in the spindle.
Hardly touched it but blood pi55ed out and I had to have stitches.
I'm too clumsy to have worn watches at work.
I wonder effect the coolant would have getting into a bezel.
Yeah, I cut myself many times but it was the constant squinting with a loupe and a caliper to try and pull the brass spelks out my fingers that was the final straw :ROFLMAO:
I always washed my G100 regularly, didn't want anything nasty to start growing from it because of the white water (my company at the time didn't clean out any of the sumps in the whole 7 years I was there, so it wasn't particularly fresh!).
You would assume on a steel watch it would do more good than harm, but I wouldn't fancy trying it hahaha

So first results are in, we as a whole like “G”s with the caveat that the 56mil case width might put off some with smaller wrists, can’t see why, have. A peruse on the daily G Shock WRUW thread, more 6” wrists on there than most places 😂
Trying hard not to read too much into the correlation between sub 6" wrists and G shocks...

Those coolant tanks when they haven't been changed stink something awful don't they ?
On grinding m/c's the dust fills the tank and you end up with an inch of coolant that's useless

I ended up scraping the bezel off my SM300 once, and you know what, my boss wasn’t lying, he didn’t pay for it 😂
I'll bet that wasnt cheap ?

It beats me why someone with a small wrist would choose a 56mil case watch…but as we all quite rightly say wear what you like.

I have been known to wear a White suit, long black wig, and silver platform boots…….

On the right occasion 😂

New bezel, fortunately it was a 2000 year model Ali bezel, and in them days watchmakers weren’t trying hard for new Bentleys every year.

I wish I could "G", however most of the models in the line up aren't just borderline or large, they're comical - getting caught on clothing, uncomfortable and generally getting in the way on my boney wrist...
Same here, love the frogman, specially the D1000, but would have to wear it on my ankle.

Mic in hand? Gee, I'm sure some were shocked.

And with that subtle segue, I haven't yet been bitten by the G Shock bug. They look good but I don't have the urge to get one. But, then again, there are plenty of watches I was indifferent to until the moment I realised I had to get one in order to be complete.

It's certainly a unique smell you never forget hahaha...I do miss the smell of the machine shop some days, I definitely don't miss the smell of the old Hitachi-Seikis with their decades old oil in :ROFLMAO:
We didn't have fancy grinding machines with coolant so I missed those joys unfortunately

And which watch would you pair with that ensemble? Pics or it never happened... :ROFLMAO:

I have been warned off wearing it again by the boss ((She who must be obeyed) so I think it will stay in the fancy dress box for the foreseeable future.

I wish there were more watches I was indifferent to quite honestly, it would be safer for my credit card 😬

The watch pairing 🤔 honestly can’t remember, something 70’s ish if I had anything with me.

Unfortunately, I was graced with legs like a Sparrow as well - so I'd probably have to strap the Frogman to my thigh

Always wondered about that. I'd be interested to know what others think.
But at ~£10 a monthly issue.... I already read at Monochrome, Abtw, etc. So it never seemed worth it.
Can't believe how much I like this watch. (Thinking about it, this is a re-buy so I must like them). I know many don't like Moonphases, but it's almost my favourite complication.

I only put it on last night, I've just realised I set the date change at midday and not midnight. Hence the 4th.

I can remember TL5's and TL40's.There's nothing like the thud of a CNC when you made an error o_O:(
I never noticed the smell laterly but back in the 70's that coolant was awful and anything it touched, stank.
Another thing you ignore after a while is the noise o_O and I've got a claim in at the moment for hearing loss and tinnitus.
I doubt I'll get anything but in for a penny......

Yep that’s the one…

Wore it daily to work, in some, interesting situations, and it held up very well.

Sold it along with most of my collection to fund the Bronzo, and now the prices are so high getting another is just not gonna happen.

I love a good moonphase, and was tempted by CW’s version with the big shiny moon, but like everything in life, priorities……it wasn’t top of the list.
