I did some " research".
Before 1950, the letter / number code wasn't used. It was a symbol representing the year. Not on the caseback..inside on the movement. How handy.
I see a manufactured small gap that a tool fits in to pop the case back off. I'll do that soon. By googling "vintage Bulova Date codes", you will find some info.

Worked with some new lawyers this morning. Suits but mostly quartz fashion designer watches. It was funny to see how they wanted to ride in the black SUV’s instead of the other vehicles. LOL!
most ofus old timers wear mechanical watches and ride in the “ordinary” vehicles. Cheers

IWC Portugieser IW371620. Love how the elegance of the Portugieser line up but always seemed too dressy for me. This model with the blue numerals/subdials/hands and paired with the blue rubber has a more casual vibe while remaining elegant and true to the Portugieser vibe.
