I can't believe I haven't posted this one before - this was one of my first buys after not wearing ANY kind of watch for almost 25 years. So here it is, a Hamilton Piping Rock reissue - I assume it's from the 1980s or '90s.
The Piping Rock is an utterly fascinating piece for me - originally designed in the late 1920s, it was strikingly different back then, and it certainly is strikingly different now. As they said in their original advert, it was an "ultra-modern" watch - from today's point of view, I'd call it "timeless".
Wearing the Hamilton Thin-o-matic today while in the office. I've been trying to locate it in the Hamilton catalogs but can't find the exact model so I'm thinking it could be from 1969, as there aren't any records for this year, or it could be a franken with the dial from the TM-5900 and the case from the Aqua-Date III with a random set of hands. Either way I'm happy but it would still be nice to know.
