Hi,

I have a WW2 USAAF A-11 'hack' wristwatch and a USN wristwatch marked USN BuShips...............

I have had BuAero aircraft clocks and I'd like to know if WW2 USN aviators had BuAero watches or did they use the watches marked Bu-Ships? (In other words, was there a BuAero marked wristwatch?).

cheers,

Hi, they had their own watches issued. Those were similar to the USAF A-11 and generally (as far as I can tell) produced mostly by Waltham and Elgin (never encountered a Bulova one....)
Typically, they have luminous hands and a slightly different dial from the A-11.
The backs will have something stamped on them along the lines of

STOCK NO.
R88-W-800
MFRS.PART
NO.2109
ELGIN

I hope it helps.
Best,
F.
