I'm still not sure whether I'll keep it like this or try to "restore" it and wear it. What would you do?

Wow. That G-Shock must have been through a lot.

You should definitely get some replacement parts , so you have the option to wear it, but it does make for an interesting conversation piece the way it is now.

A little of both, I suppose. I've been wanting to get a vintage G-Shock for a while, and this one was cheap enough that I figured I'd take a chance on it. I actually saw it before the "Chunkyyy" thread and was afraid it would go too high because of it, but it didn't. I guess I figured that even if the watch was garbage, the whole package was interesting enough to make it worth my while.

My question is, how did you open that thing ....with a blowtorch?

Actually, as I mentioned on my blog, it was easier than I expected. I just clamped the big part of the case in my bench vise (after wrapping a rag around it, not that you'd be able to see any damage on this thing) and then with a rag over the ring on the front just used a big adjustable pliers.
