These are always fun... So you get only 5 watches to fulfill your wristwatch needs for the rest of your life, none of which can cost more than... let's say 10k, give or take. What do you choose?

That's a tough one ... let's see ... I'd probably have more than one dress watch in there -

1. Omega Seamaster AT (8500)/JLC Master Grand Ultra Thin/Zenith Class Elite 680 chronometre/Chopard L.U.C. Sport
2. Blancpain Fifty Fathoms ... probably a 5015-1130-52
3. Zenith El Primero Chronomaster Ref. 01.0240.410/cal. 400 New Vintage '69/Movado Datron
4. J.L.C. Master Compressor GMT
5. A G-Shock of some sort ... ok, I'll drop the G and go in for a pre-owned Patek Philippe 5196J :-d

I'm going to assume that the watches I have don't count:

1. Omega Speedmaster Professional. The definitive chronograph.

2. DOXA 1000/1200T. My favorite modern dive watch. Probably go with the 1200T for the HRV and thicker bracelet.

3. Rolex Submariner, No Date. Classic watch, great history.

4. Vintage Omega Ultrathin. The same model that Kennedy had. Can't think of a dress occasion where it wouldn't be appropriate.

5. Something like a Suunto Vector HR or Elementum Terra. Cool quartz watch that delivers a bunch of (usually useless for me) information.

It's difficult to pick only 5, especially with a $ limit. :-d

3 Omega PO
4 GO Senator 60's ss chrono
5 Zenith Chronomaster Open XXT

1. Breitling Superocean Steelfish. Great diver's watch and can be beaten on.
2. Heuer Monaco. I'd take a TAG, but would prefer an original like McQueen wore. Sexiest chrono of all time.
3. Breitling Navitimer or Navitimer World or Chronomatic. I'd have to think long and hard about this one- each has its merits- but I'd certainly pick one up. Very versatile.
4. Omega Aqua Terra. Non-chrono, white face, blue hands, bracelet. One of the best looking dress watches out there, IMO. Runners up would include a Cartier tank, a Hamilton Jazzmaster Viewmatic, and some high-end stuff.
5. Citizen Signature Series Flyback Chronograph. An ultra-reliable quartz to use as a reference for setting my other watches.

I think 5 watches is about the right number to cover all bases and have variety. I'm thinking something like this (in no particular order):

1. PAM 111 or some other Panerai
2. JLC Reverso Sun & Moon
3. IWC Portuguese 5001 or JLC Master Eight Days
4. Something on a bracelet like VC Overseas
5. G-shock of some sort
