The UNDONE Basecamp is available for order now starting from just US$295!

The sensibly sized 40mm Basecamp is modeled on the brand’s hugely successful Aqua diver, but at just 15mm thick, it’s slimmer on the wrist, making it suitable for comfortable everyday wear.

One of the highlights of the Basecamp watch is the ultra-domed 3mm crystal made from Lexan, a polycarbonate thermoplastic used in headlamps and motorcycle helmets with no less than 250 times the impact strength of glass.

Two years in development, the crystal and chamfered case provides supreme robustness together with essential tool watch features, including water resistance lab tested in house to up to 180-meters.

If there’s something familiar about the hands and the bezel, that’s because UNDONE Basecamp is in part inspired by famous tool watches that have preceded it.

UNDONE Basecamp with ‘sterile’ bezel

UNDONE’s founder Michael Young is a huge vintage watch fan and has worked with some of the world’s leading brands including Hublot, Audemars Piguet, Franck Muller, Omega, Swatch, and Bremont. So, a prominent Basecamp feature is its orange, highly visible hour-hand, which proudly pays tribute to Rolex and the iconic Explorer II.

Watch aficionados will also notice the nod to Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms ‘Sterile’ dive bezel; no numerals or markers, just a single lumed triangle. It also mimics the original ‘Bakelite’ insert through an application of lume under a transparent insert. Staying loyal to the legacy of tool watches, the bezel rotates in both directions without clicks.

UNDONE being experts in customization, in May, you’ll also be able to request a classic 60- minute bezel instead of the ‘sterile’ bezel if you prefer. There’s also a choice of four case options: 316L stainless steel, black PVD, rose gold, and yellow gold. And, as with all UNDONE watches, the caseback and dial can be personalized with glass, engravings, and initials. This current Basecamp is an intro to the brand’s new customizable collection, which will feature more options for users to customize it, with endless possibilities. Undone will be closely engaging the community on further development of this model.

Basecamp runs on the trusty workhorse the Seiko NH-35 automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve and a date complication at 4:30 pm. Against the matte black dial are luminescent numerals at 3, 6, 9 and 12 as well as luminescent markers. The three drastically different hands contrast strongly against the black background and are lume-filled for ease of reading in low light conditions. In addition, UNDONE has chosen the color orange, the scientific color of safety, which stands out the best for visibility. You won’t go wrong with an UNDONE Basecamp.

Available for order right now, the Basecamp comes on a Zulu strap or your choice of a leather or Perlon strap.
