Hello all!

I’m looking to add a more “field” style watch to my collection, and I’m between the Hamilton Khaki series and the Seiko Alpinist series.

I haven’t narrowed it down to specific watches, but I know I want to go with those two lines since I have dealers near me who readily stock them and will give me a decent discount.

In terms of customer service, reliability, and durability, should I go with Hamilton Khaki or Seiko Alpinist? Why or why not?

Thanks!

Customer service, no experience with either.
Reliability, both great
Durability, both great
One you didn't mention, Time keeping accuracy, Hamilton by a mile. Sure, you can end up with a solid seiko, but their factory spec window is much larger, and people often get watches right at the edge of in spec.
Big fan of the Khaki, but design is totally subjective, and at this price point is really the main driver in my opinion. Buy what you like.

+1 on Khaki...that said, the shape of the 'standard' Khaki field is a little weird, and I find the basic dial design kind of boring. But I love my Hodinkee LE, my green titanium 38mm, and my Aviation Pilot Pioneer Mechanical, and my Aviation Pilot Pioneer (one with the bezel). They're all stupid accurate and I feel they're better watches than the one older Alpinist I own.

I purchased the Alpinist a few times back when they were $300 or so. Not everyone likes the green/gold color scheme, but I love it. However, for the prices they go for now, I don’t think the crappy 6r movement is acceptable. The Khaki is a classic with much better and more reliable movement, plus a lower price. The Khaki is my choice all day.
