Maybe the decision will be for another vote?

New renders from om-4 are up in thread 16.

This most recent post should give you guys an idea of where the next major vote is headed.

Remember, DO NOT POST IN THREAD 16.

I'll take one of each, thanks. Dark blue fade has a nice, rich look to it and the globe on the dark blue is subtle compared to the teal, IMHO. I wonder how the fade would look with a globe in the middle...

Would be nice to see them with the date window. You know when you're not busy. :-d

Thanks again for the time invested, Chip!

Patience grass hoppa! ;) We're getting there! I'm just as anxious to see our final design as you guys are.
Since we had a tie on dial color we felt that this was a good way to settle it, especially due to the debate of Texture vs Dial first. We are ironing out the details of how we want the vote to go. So possibly today, hopefully tomorrow we will have the next major vote. (don't quote me on this, if you do you're off the list. =P)

My opinion (since no one asked for it) is that a forum-designed watch ought to be fairly unique - something we wouldn't be able to buy "off the rack". (within the constraints of commercial appeal, of course). If it looks like any other watch out there, what have we accomplished?

Nothing against blue watches - I love my Somes - but I can swing a cat and hit 20 dark blue watches out there. The teal designs by comparison are distinctive and look very sharp.

Wherever we end up, big thanks to the committee for all their hard work and tough decisions, and Chip should be able to expect free drinks in any f71 town he visits.

My assumption (and hope) is that the next vote is the runoff just for dial colour between blue and teal, now that everyone has seen the different textures possible. Hoping that it isn't a combined colour/texture vote :)

On behalf of the 2013 F71 Project Committee:

As Ric said after the color vote, and as Kody's alluded to above, the committee had to discuss what to do next regarding the color and texture since we've had a tie.

Here's what we've decided...

We've asked Chip (Om-4) to do a render of each texture in the two winning colors. We'll vote on textures next, using two rounds of STV voting - 10 textures will be narrowed down to 4, and then those 4 down to the 1 winner. After that, we'll have two colors with that one winning texture, and we'll vote to pick a winner between them.

In the meantime, we're obviously running out of things to vote on, so we should start discussing ideas for marking the caseback (center design and wording), crown, wording for the dial, hand style, etc. Even when we get a texture and dial color, we'll still need to decide on a complimentary color for the dial markings, so we can start putting forth ideas on all of these, with this caveat...

While it was fun to put forth some silly ideas for casebacks, unless you really want your watch to be etched with a burger, fries and a large diet coke, let's keep things on the level going forward. Serious submissions only, please.

I will literally chuck a narwhal (tusk first) at the first guy to test us on this.

I would like to note that all of the textures are more defined on the teal over the blue due to the blue being so dark. On a few of the blue renderings I had trouble even seeing the texture.

Any chance we can see teal/blue with texture similar to this? Maybe diamond texture or something?

I don't think I've ever seen a basket-weave dial before! I'm not sure if I like it. Does that mean I do or I don't, lol?

This is going to sound wacky, but it looks like a background graphic from Double Dragon or Street Fighter...

Well, I have looked at the design renders from Chip and I have changed my mind on my colour selection. I am now teal all the way. It just works better with every single pattern. Bring on the voting =P

I could be wrong, but that is a standard carbon fiber weave. Most carbon fiber looks like that, but using CF as a watch dial is still rarely seen.

We had mustard and ketchup among the colours. No one likes hotdogs I guess.

I was in Toronto many moons ago. Next time I'm in the neighbourhood I'll take you up on that beer.
