HappyJack, for me it's easy. The Breitling is my favorite between them both. Maybe that's because I don't need or use alot of the multi-functions that each watch offers. Again for me, I just find that my Aerospace looks great as a tool watch in jeans, and yet it's dressy enough when I'm going out. The two-tone of the Titanium & 18K gold helps carry the look in either mode.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll be 'Happy-Jack', with either one.

Dave...
Thanks for the feedback. I'm coming to the conclusion that only a quartz can offer the true GMT functionality I'd like - ie ability to deal with 30 minute timezone offsets - without having to stop and reset the watch. The UTC module you have seems to extend that flexibility even further...

Construction and build looks better on the E75362 but I see no comparison between the two. I own a 2008 Aerospace and it is superior in every way.

The E75362...
- looks old, tired, and outdated. With the addition of the Avantage you are going from SD to HD
- the two-tone is god awful.
- the Pro aerospace bracelet doesn't compliment the watch one bit. The Pro ti is a little better but still not complimentary.
- Is the watch your grandpa would wear.

The E79362...
- Is slim, aggressive and sexy yet it still retains its functional look and roots.
- The solid color scheme is more fitting to a modern watch.
- Even with my small wrists (6.75" loose) the 42mm case fits my wrist perfectly.
- Is the watch the young smart professional would wear.

The only knock I have against the Avantage and mine the newer plain Aerospace version is the legibility of the lcd displays. Without adequate lighting I find activating the backlight is a must. I would get rid of the NVG feature and shoot for the legibility the X-33 has.

Both are great watches, I just felt compelled to stick up for the newer Aerospace because of the lack of support.

Wow. Disagree. This appears a completely biased retort.

i.e.

I own a 2008 Aerospace and it is superior in every way.
I assume that also means you don't (and have never) never owned a 2001-2004 Aerospace...?

Lets break down and address:

The E75362...
- looks old, tired, and outdated. With the addition of the Avantage you are going from SD to HD
- the two-tone is god awful.
- the Pro aerospace bracelet doesn't compliment the watch one bit. The Pro ti is a little better but still not complimentary.

1) 100% subjective. I could agree perhaps that the Avantage has been "updated" in some respects like the extra size and some of these notes are welcomed updates but it sounds to me that your argument for "update" is more a bias against tooled looks vs bling (i.e. Sinn vs. Cartier). Bear in mind this is the professional series...these are different breeds, not better/worse looks

2) I would agree Pro II > Pro I but can't validate that the Pro Ti doesn't suit the watch. I don't myself care for the two tone but even it still suits the two tone head very well. Seeing as it wasn't even pictured in original review its somewhat moot as it wasn't compared directly in the review.

3)Two tone is awful? Perhaps, not my taste for sure (esp for a tool watch) but then again that's model f75362 and again not covered in this review. Two tone vs. not two tone does not compare the models in any way, it compares the two styles. Most watches offer two tone or non two tone options...You did read the OP right...?

4)Is a watch your grandpa would wear? Pretty cool gramps then in my opinion. When I think outdated I picture a 35mm gold tone vintage piece rather than this tool speced multifunction superquartz...

Moving on.

1) Its less slim than the E75362 is it not? So why you credit the E79362 with the distinction is beyond me. More aggressive? Perhaps I can agree, what defines it as more "sexy" I can only assume is the extra bling already covered above.

2) Your repeating yourself. Entirely moot seeing as both watches offer solid colour schemes...as covered above. Liking a colour better does not imply anything better about the model anyway.

3) 42mm not being too big does not mean 40mm is too small. The original review credits this to preference and does not imply one is "better" as you have done

4) More subjective undefined overture...I hope your aware this watch isn't termed professional for "young smart professionals" in the board room, its a tool watch. Professional implies professional in the field (i.e. Pilots), not lawyers, doctors and engineers. I can only assume your saying the Avantage is better suited for those parties but thats not what the Aerospace was designed for. In any case, both parties can enjoy either piece and the older model is far from outdated as your implying.

I agree with the original post that the newer models may have lost some things. That does not mean that the new model has nothing going for it, there are some nice unquestionable improvements but we'd like to see that sort of advance without compromise.

I appreciate the OPs tones of constructive criticism that reviews often lack, as well as the appreciation for detail and the lack of bias. Thanks to the OP for a great review!

I found this thread on a Google search for info about my 75362. It's nearly 6 years since this thread was started, and while times have changed, the OP almost perfectly describes the reasons I went for a 75362 over an Avantage. At this age, the price differential is negligible between the 2 on the secondhand market. So the biggest factors for me were the case size, the aesthetics and the night time legibility. The backlit LCD was a big draw for the Avantage, but in the end the smaller size and to my mind better aesthetics of the 75362 won me over. I have found the lume to be ok for night time legibility even in the small hours, and for some reason I find reading an analogue dial less disturbing in the night than a lit digital display.

Anyway here is mine in action.
