Aesthetic Similar to SRPG35, but Better Accuracy?

I’ve done a lot of looking, but haven’t seen anything that meets the requirement. What options out there have an aesthetic similar to the Seiko SRPG35 (basic field watch), but have a significantly more accurate movement? The catch…I want a day-date and I want to keep it to 40mm (not stretch to 42mm+).

I’ve currently got a Pelagos and an SMP. I don’t need that accurate necessarily, but I don’t want this inaccurate (~+/-40 sec/day).

Yes, there are several Hamilton’s that I like the look of. The catch is that the one I really like is 42mm. I’d really like to keep it to 39-40mm (my bad…I should have included that. Just did so via an edit).

The Hamilton with day-date that meet the size requirement seem to be on the dressier side (I.e. King Khaki).

Just because that's spec accuracy published by Seiko doesn't mean that's what you'll get. I'll bet the watch you receive is within 10, maybe better. I can't remember any time in my experience or even those I've heard of others where a new Seiko is out 40 sec p/day. These spec accuracies, imo, are vastly overstated as a way to stave off warranty claims. I believe that WR is often understated for the same reason.

I’ll just say that after owning my SKX/7S26, I’ll never purchase another watch with an entry level unregulated Seiko movement.

If you can live without the day the clear choice imo is the IWC Mark XVIII…..
Nice looking watch, but that’s more of a pilot watch (style wise) than a field watch.

Nice looking watches (that one is really sharp), but I’m not a fan of their day-date watches.

Bulova Hack 96A259 - no day date, 38mm

BM8180-03E -- day date, 37mm, but not automatic
I like the Bulova, but the 18mm strap is a deal breaker for me. It’s just a bit too small for me, too.

I had that exact Citizen watch. Nice watch, but it’s just a bit too small for me (wasn’t a fan of the 18mm lug width either).

Glycine Combat 6 Classic GL0105 -- no day, 36mm (difficult to find brand new, but I recently picked a NOS off ebay for $350).
Great looking watch. I have 8” wrists, so 36mm looks ridiculous on me (tried one on a couple weeks ago).

I’ve liked every 40mm that I’ve tried on and would be willing to go down to 39mm, but any smaller than that isn’t going to work for me.

I have a Seiko SRPG35 and really like it but I don't trust it to either keep going or be acceptably accurate. The same 4R36 movement in my SRP777 does much better it terms of both accuracy and reserve power.

Having previously owned a Citizen BM8180-03E and enjoyed the accuracy and clarity but not the small size, shiny skeleton hands or sharp case, I eventually decided to buy a Citizen Titanium Promaster Tough Eco-Drive Watch BN0118-04E to effectively relpace my SRPG35.

The Promaster Tough Titanium is has a very similar case size to the SRPG 35 and a 20mm lug spacing but, to me at least, looks a little smaller due to the smaller diameter face (and maybe also to the darker brushed and polished titanium rather than blasted stainless finish).

There is no day display though, just day, and I have read that it may also be a UK only model which would not aid availability elswhere in the world.

Compared to the SRPG35 thr Promaster Tough Titanium seems a little sterile - but at least I can trust it.
