Alternatives to PP Aquanaut?

I’ve recently fallen in love the Aquanaut. The irregularly symmetric bezel, the simple dial, and flush silicone strap. All of this creates a simple, modern, clean and casual watch. I’ve been debating getting a seikomod clone because I can’t find anything that resembles it. I’d rather something with its own personality. What are your suggestions under 5k?

Stick to the Seiko clone.

When I drank the Aquanaut Kool-Aid and got one, I hated it so much I traded it a couple weeks later.

The same probably won’t happen to you, but test out the waters with the clone first. It will either make you long for the real deal, or put you off it entirely.

Only after being certain I liked the look would I consider a similar looking but good quality substitute.

What is the Seiko "clone" of an Aquanaut? Reference #?

It costs more than 5k at RRP (£6.7k in UK, $7.5k US), maybe you can find pre owned under 5k (if in US it is much cheaper than here in the UK). It is the Zenith Pilot 2023. Yes it is supposedly a pilot watch but it has 100m water resistance, super finishing (think 2 rungs above an IWC Mark XX). I've owned an Aquanaut before and prefer this - it doesn't suffer by comparison for sure

the only two things the aquanaut has going for it is its price and it's brand. other than that it's a boring looking watch. so to be wanting one probably means it's either for the status or the status. I could be wrong, it could really just be all about the status

I know I'm in the minority here but my thoughts are if you like it for the style and design, just get a close homage or clone. Unless you can afford the real thing (which most of us can't) then hurry up to get in the waitlist.

Steel Bagelsport if you can live with the strange name.

Quite possibly the most unloved watch in the PP line up, until everyone with some £££’s decided they wanted a Nautilus, and then found they couldn’t get one.

Then they looked at the Aquanaut and thought…oh ok I’ll have that instead, driving the prices up beyond that of PM high complication models…go figure heh.

Lots of squarish watches that are sort of similar, the B&R being my favourite (but saying that on here is gonna get an avalanche of hate).

Alteratively lots of Chinese copy/homage/clones around at £50, check out the bay.
