Bought a beautiful bronze C60 diver but when I wind it manually after a few days of not wearing it, the rotor spins absolutely out of control.

I called CW and they have sent over DHL labels and scheduled a courier to come and pick it up Wednesday.

Has anyone had experience with CW repairs and service? I'd love to know what to expect and am admittedly anxious, as I love the watch...

Had to send my Mk3 C60 in last year for the same issue. Took about 7 weeks, but came back fixed and I received email updates as the watch's status changed ("watch received", "watch evaluated", "watch is now being worked on", "watch has been despatched").

Had a hiccough with the DHL pickup the first try (nearest DHL facility is over an hour away) that prompted a reschedule, but otherwise everything went smoothly.

I've heard good things about CW's service, although I have no personal experience.

The only new watch I had to send in for service was a CWC, that is also in the UK. I think the total turnaround was about 8 weeks, and I had to pay shipping to the UK which sucked but whatever.

I recently sent 4 of my Citizens to the service center in Torrance, about 1 hour from my house, and it took about 6 weeks all-in. So...all that is to say 8-10 weeks is likely reasonable.

Can't comment on CW repair work but I had the same issue with my Aquaracer. Apparently it's cause by a broken reversing wheel and is easily fixed. Also an extremely common problem on the Sellita SW200 movement for whatever reason.
Definitely seems more common with Sellita than ETA. I'm thinking Sellita isn't lubricating these as well as ETA in the factory. ETAs will develop it, but, anecdotally, it seems like they don't develop issues until closer to their 5 year service intervals. Although I had an ETA develop it within the first year of ownership.

It's a weak point in the design. Interestingly, Damasko's in-house 2824 replacement copies much from the 2824, but they completely overhauled the winding design to make it more robust because that's where they saw the most failures.

Seven weeks is nothing! I can do seven weeks standing on my head. 😜

I‘ve had a Longines chrono out for service going on five months due to a back ordered part. It’s to the point that I’ve nearly forgotten I own the watch.

Had used CW service and they are excellent. It takes a while to get it back specially right now but they do answer your emails in a timely manner. Don’t be disappointed too much, stuff like this happens to the best (more expensive) watches. Just be glad they have a 5 year warranty and their movement can be serviced by any competent watch service center should your warranty run out. In fact, I need to contact them for one of my C60 but I’ll wait since I still have 4 more years on my warranty. That way they might service it and reset the service interval for that watch.

My Mk3 Trident was in for service twice last summer for this issue under warranty. All total is was 12-13 weeks probably. 2nd time it was fully fixed and I sold it. I had the same issue with a Sandhurst from them. I was very disappointed and decided to just return it, despite adoring that watch. Hopefully they are turning things like this around quicker these days.

Had two watches sent in for repair last year, they had international repairs on hold do to the pandemic, then last late summer or fall put in for the repair request, both watches was picked up, one had to do with the movement, the other the second hand fell off. Yes 5-7 weeks, the second hand repair was returned first. The somewhat nice black plastic watch holder that they came back in was quite nice.

I had exactly the same issue with my C60 vintage, it is a common problem apparently, the gears of the winding mechanism get gummed up they told me.
They replaced the gears on mine, I think it took about 6 weeks from memory.
All perfect when it came back, I have since parted with it though.
