I heard from Glashütte themselves, and they said that in that era there aren't really records that can tell anything more than it was made between 1964 and 1980, and that it's a Caliber 74 if it has no date, and Caliber 75 if it has a date...

But that's enough for me. I'm going to consider this my "birth year" watch...

That's a clean modernist watch face and looks well in black and chrome. From what I've read the Glashütte logo was used from 1967 with GUB prior to this. While the movement doesn't compare to recent Glashütte watches, it certainly is an attractive gift.

Apparently, at the time the Caliber 74 was the world’s thinnest automatic movement.

 

Total production 06-25 (caliber 74) 1,864,492 movements, 06-26 (caliber 75) 1,858,466 movements.
Usually the first two numerals of the serial number = year of production
Next numeral: quarter of production year
704 = 4th quarter 1970.

How about for a GUB 17 Rubis? Serial Number starts with 181
