ARE G-SHOCK WEARERS STACKED WITH MONEY?

I was watching a news segment about the current inflation, and, as you can see in the picture below, they show this guy stacked with 100€ bills while wearing a G-Shock. Is this how we all are, stacked with cash saved by buying digital watches instead of luxury horology? Is this guy simply paying for a new Mudmaster, one in those flamboyant red colors, getting scalped hard? What's your perspective?

I am not stacked with cash, but as you mentioned that we are dealing with inflation on everything so I have been focusing on the classic Casio's from the 80's. I have been enjoying picking a few of these up and only costing me $15-$35 each. They are fun retro watches that are nostalgic and bring back good memories of my youth.
I recently picked up a couple non-digital watches a Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic and a Squale 30 ATM Tropic GMT. I had to sell off three of my GWF-D1000 Frogmen to cover the cost so I wouldn't create any debt.

Most definitely not stacked!!!

Even when I do have any dosh, my top budget is about £150, and that's only for a special buy if something turns up. Generally I look to spend £70 - 90 top end.

I've actually sold quite a few of my G's lately, including some vintage 5xxxC's, money's hard at the moment and I have need of funds for more important things than watches. It hurt to part ways, but needs must🤷‍♂️

If you carry so much money in your pocket instead of simply paying with “plastic” will say something about the guy. Very unwise.
About his Casio: good call!

I generally hate carrying a bunch of cash around, what am I a drug a dealer? :D

But I went on eruo vacation in july and brought some dollars along just in case. Spent some but had $500 left. I totally forgot about it and just found it yesterday cleaning out the backpack. So yeah, G-shock, check. Cash in hand, check. Rich enough to forget about $500 in a backpack for months, check!

I was stacked with money, but have now spent it on recently commissioning a definitive report on whether you can wear a G Shock in the shower :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Well, I make a decent living, and my watches are all affordable (the ones in my signature plus an Amphibia). I've tried really expensive watches in several ADs and I always leave thinking how can they be so expensive. I do like some, visually, but not so much to spend thousands. Also, I already have other expensive hobbies that I actually enjoy more than watches (I know, right). Last but not least, I always pay in cash and carry enough with me at all times. I do it for privacy, I hate my bank knowing when and what I buy.

I am so rich, I can shower with my G-Shock....

On a more serious note: In order to collect watches, you most likely have a part of your income that doesn't go into other, more immediate needs.

So you don't need to be stacked with cash, but you have enough to actually fund this hobby, however affordable your collection is.
It's true, of course, no one actually needs this stuff, the simple fact that someone manages to throw money at this is indicator enough that they must be comfortable.
