Bathys? I presume they are no more?

So I pulled this one from the safe for the first time in quite awhile, got me curious if the brand was still around. Essentially launched here on this forum (though not really a dive watch per se). This arrived in 2006 or 2007 while I was away in Baghdad. Their first release, the Bathys 100 Fathoms. Cool watch, my only gripe being the tiny crown (which they remedied on later releases). Can't find anything current on them on the web.

Yeah, I think they're done. Their website has been down for a while, and they don't have any more social media presence that I can find. There is still a vestigial 'Bathys Fans' Facebook site that I'm a member of - but nothing much goes on there any longer.

Really a shame - the 100 Fathoms was a wonderful watch.

Wished I would have had a chance to sample that brand. Now, I think they were ahead of their time.

I expect if they could have held on they’d be a strong contender in today’s micro market.

I bought my Bathys Benthic when I was on our last trip to Hawaii before my grandpa passed. He thought it was a pretty cool watch so I'll never get rid of it as long as I live. It's badly in need of service since that was around 15 years ago now but I will never not get rid of it.

I bought a gently used one from anther forum member. It doesn't get as much wrist time as it deserves. I was waiting on them to restock as I wanted the MOP dial.
From what I understood, going back in time, he was selling to ADs on the mainland and he was being screwed for payments. I had a local AD here in Phoenix. Once he stopped selling to ADs he started to sell strictly online as he did when he first started. He sold out all of his inventory and I guess he closed shop. I went looking for them a few years ago and the choices where slim pickins. I tried looking again this last year and his website was gone.
Such a shame..fantastic brand and great CS.
Old pic to reminisce

I got mine at an AD in Hawaii, at the time that was the only AD they were at. He definitely overextended himself trying to sell to ADs on the mainland and it came back to bite him. That's why he went online only which worked well for him for the short while he kept at it.

Problem is, now there are microbrands everywhere you turn and watches like the Bali Hai and Bathys are no longer "unique" enough anymore. It's a shame because Bathys was really ahead of the curve when it came to high-quality, affordable microbrands.
