I need to replace batteries on 2 or 3 of my quartz watches and I decided maybe i would just change all of them which is probably about 12 -15 watches. Does anyone have a good source for batteries that are fresh. Is there a brand that is better than the normal ones you can buy anywhere? In other words I would like to get good batteries from a trusted source, maybe I am being OCD 🤪

I found that esslinger or ST supply are a bit cheaper for batteries than amazon before shipping, and I just try to buy some other stuff to justify the shipping cost. I mod watches so might have more watch supply needs than most, but a decent spring bar tool, caseback opener, or loupe is of use almost anyone in the hobby. It’s important imo to support these small watch supply businesses.

I go to this store, Batteries and Bulbs +, that has about 90% of the batteries I'm looking for if I want to replace a battery right away.

Kroger/Walgreens/Target have a lot of the most common batteries if I happen to be going there.

I order from Amazon if it's something really weird.

I'm not terribly concerned about brand, I concentrate on making sure I get the exact size.

I'm bummed that we no longer have a local Radio Shack store, as they were my go to both for freshness of stock and availability of sizes. They also always knew what the alternatives were so I didn't have to look them up (that's not exactly a hardship, but it was nice to not have to think about it).

Since then I've discovered that our True Value hardware is a pretty good source. Not quite to the Radio Shack levels, but they have most of the sizes I need. If they don't have what I need I typically buy from Amazon. I find that Target, Walmart, Walgreens, etc. around me don't typically have the sizes I need.

I used to buy from Amazon until I started testing them when they arrived after getting one that did not last long. Consistently what I have gotten from them have been old until I stopped buying from them. I noticed that rarely are they sold by Amazon, but usually from marketplace sellers with names like GreatDeals or BattSupply or RealPoo (yes RealPoo is really a name from Amazon) Since then I have purchased Renata from Esslinger and have had zero issues with old batteries.
