Can't find Quartz Diver with day AND date.

Hi all,

I've been looking for a while and can really only find one watch that fits the bill: The Reactor Gamma Ti. If the Seiko Monster was in quartz, it'd be a no brainer but they don't make one. I've looked for the Seiko SHC053, don't make them any more. Or the Seiko SMY089. Budget is about $500. I realize the Tuna is out there, just a little more than I want to spend.

I lost a Tag Aquagraph fishing last summer. Instantly GPS'd the spot and have been down the the bottom, about 60' with an underwater metal detector with several buddies, several times and can't find it so it's time to move on. The Tag didn't have any sort of date but made me realize how much I'd like to have that feature. Also made me realize how much I need an accurate quartz.

Back to the Reactor, nothing wrong with it, in fact it's probably what I'll buy. I like the idea of the screw bars so I'll never lose it. Also like the idea of combo lume paint with tritium. I like the case design, size and bezel, not the biggest fan of the face. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't passing up any other options. Budget can be stretched if I find something I reeeeally like. The Seiko Grey Ghost SBCZ005 fits the bill but it's a bit small. 40mm I believe?

Thank you all,

I literally just posted a review of the Deep Blue ProTac 1000m!

Deep Blue also makes divers with tritium within your price range. Check them out! I'm incredibly happy with the quality of their stuff, though the website is a little old-looking.

EDIT: FYI, I got the ProTac for $200 from a dive shop (LeisurePro, though I think I bought their last ProTac), but Deep Blue's website has them at $300.

Very impressive gentlemen. I was aware of some of these, and found some new ones to research. Thank you all.

Regarding the Poseidon....how's the lume? Wrist shot? 47mm is getting up there.

The Sawtooth has also been on my shortlist, but wasn't able to find one.

Here's a pic of my actual watch that is now resting peacefully on the bottom of Puget Sound.

I myself like to hear how stories end so I thought I'd share what I bought. I really wanted the Reactor, but just couldn't get past the dial styling. Everything else about the watch was exactly what I wanted. What did I get? BLACK MONSTER! I can finally see what the hype is all about. This watch is great. I know, it's not quartz...

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, might be a bit tough with your budget. Either way, as much as I really liked my Monster, I've come to realize some of us just require high accuracy and auto's don't cut it. I will always love my Monster, but I ended up recently finding a Seiko Titanium quartz solar diver. My favorite watch to date. SBDN015. Doesn't have the day, just date which does bug me, but overall, I really like it. After trying to get myself to like the Reactor Gamma again, I still think the dial is a bit underwhelming considering the price. You said you wanted a sapphire crystal which this watch does not have and Hardlex isn't all that great, but if you like mod's, you can DIY or have a jeweler replace the Hardlex with sapphire. I ordered the watch below from Japan. I live in the U.S. Have fun!

I agree. Limited options on the market. I ended up with a field watch with both complications.
