Just curious,
do you leave the protective sticker on the back of your watches or do you remove it?

I have always taken it off unless it is a watch i intend to flip right away or return...
just don't like the feel of it on my skin and i don't mind if the case back gets worn from nato use.

How about you?

I think user manual says to remove it, for fear of trapping moisture: e.g. Seiko Watch Care | Seiko

"PRECAUTION REGARDING CASE BACK PROTECTIVE FILM

If your watch has a protective film and/or a sticker on the case back, please remove it before use."

But I have a watch from my Dad that still has the caseback sticker on it. He wore the watch very sparingly, so the sticker still looks great, and I see no rusting. If one plans to wear it often, maybe best to remove sticker. If not, maybe okay to leave it on? For watches that I wear regularly, I take it off.

i never saw that before, makes sense...
i have thought about leaving it on Limited Edition watches just to protect the serial numbers...
but its good to know that my instinct to remove it matches up with Seiko's recommendations

Of course you're supposed to remove it or else they would have affixed it with a more permanent adhesive at the factory. I see the same thing in the guitar world where people think their guitar is more valuable because they still have the plastic film on their pickguard or the "CE" and "don't throw in the trash" stickers on the neckplates of Fender guitars but they just look like crap or make you look like an idiot that didn't know you can take the stickers off.

Duct tape and rubbing alcohol should get rid of the adhesive residue.

I like to leave them on. I love the feel of plastic against my skin. Plus, after six months, I get to experience an enjoyable hour scraping off the worn dirty sticker and cleaning the case-back.

I always chuckle when I see a person wearing a suit or sports coat, with the manufacturer's label still on the sleeve.

Me too. I don't think they know that even though they are trying to look classy by showing off the brand of their ill-fitting, off the rack polyester suit they just look tacky. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt though and just assume they don't know they're supposed to take it off.

I always take them off. My sister, however, has had a digital casio for more than ten years now. The resin band has snapped, the case is bamged up and dirty, but the sticker is still on the back.

The back's not pristine, it's utterly filthy. It's got a decade of assorted grime, dirt and all sorts of nasty wrist gunk trapped under it.

Yuck :-(

Of course I keep it on! Why, I don't buy the watch for its stainless steel or gold case. I buy for the plastic film it comes wrapped in of course!
