This just arrived Friday afternoon!

Casio DBC-611-1VT Databank Telememo calculator watch from Casio's Vintage Collection. These were originally made in the late 1980s and early 1990s. I had a black one when I was in high school in the early 90s, but I lost it in 1994.

This reissue is similar, but has a slightly different display layout. They didn't make the reissue in black, only in silver or gold. My original black one came on a black rubber band. The silver reissue came with a silver stainless steel bracelet that is a bit long for my skinny wrists, even when adjusted; so I replaced it with a black leather band. This takes 22mm bands.

These watches were the original 'smartwatches.' They have a lot of functions: calculator, telephone number database, stopwatch, multiple alarms, and dual time zone timekeeping. It can display in a bunch of languages.

What's crazy is that I paid less for the reissue than my original cost me back in the early 90s! I paid $55 for my original, and the new one was $50 on Amazon!

The DBC-32 isn't the one I had. My old one had the same case as the new one I just bought, but the LCD had a slightly different layout and the keypad on the old one had both letters and numbers on it, while the new one only has numbers. I wish I could remember the model number, but it was over 30 years ago and I was a kid at the time. I lost it when I was 18. I'm 49 now.

The DBC-32 has a larger case, and has raised physical keys to push, while mine has a flat keypad.

Yes the rereleases are cheaper. I had a DB520 back in the 1980's. Used it mostly for the database and chronograph then passed it on to another family member. Casio reissued the DB520 about 30 years later and the 675 module retained the original calendar but upgraded the light to led. I think I paid about $30 for the new one which was much less than in the 80's.
