So I just won an auction on the bay for a Chronomat Seamatic Submariner.

I paid $69 shipped. I bought a GMT version a while ago. I was impressed with the GMT so I thought I would get a Submariner.

Anyone else have an of these watches???

It has a chinese movement and has been pretty acurate. Full stainless steel case and band with solid endlinks. Says 200m WR??

Said Sapphire crystal but I think it is just mineral. The bezel clicks very nice and have to say the GMT I had was very nice.

It had some machining issues as the band was a little sharp and the lume was a joke but beyond that it was a really nice watch. I gave it to a friend cause he needed a watch and he was really happy with it.

So now I am getting another.

Just wanted to know what others think and if you wanted that look for just a little money it is a great deal and better quality than the chinese alpha I had.

John,

I will never get tired of the U1. It is a keeper. At least it is one of my favorite watches ever thanks to youB-)

You just need to have one fancy or shiny watch for certain ocassions.

I have been to the Chinese forum but no mention of Chronomat anywhere. Only Alpha and seagul???

Wow, Sounds like some quality issues with that watch. I would prolly paid an extra 20 bucks and got a Invicta with a miyota movement .

The Invicta actually looks cheaper.

Now the Miyota movement is a proven workhorse!

The problem with the Invicta is quality. Now I am not saying Invicta makes a watch that will break. It is more the details and finish.

However for $69 the Chronomat Looks very close to the real thing. The case work is nice. Shape of the case and finish looks very expensive. The band while was sharp on the edges was very nice with screw in pins and not push out pins. The divers extension was a solid metal design not flat stamped steel. The bezel turned perfectly. The dial is spotless! No lint or fingerprints like the Invicta's I owned. The automatic movement actually seemed very accurate. It comes with a Lifetime warranty(remains to be seen if they will still be in business past Invicta's five year warranty).

So far from what I could tell it was very impressive for the price. I was looking for feedback from others who might have owned the watch not those who were upset that I do not like Invicta watches!!:-X

I would gladly buy a chinese watch that is well made over an Invicta any day of the week!! If I am out $69 then I will learn my lesson but I am willing to give a try specially when you see what they look like.

Thanks for the replies but it is clear no one here has heard of them.

You stated several quality issues with the watch. Like It saying it had a sapphire crystal when you believe it did not. Rough case, Chinese movement( Not know for quality) etc. What makes that better then an Invicta. Sounds like they are both basically 100 or less POS's.

I said nothing about the case being rough. I said the machining on the bracelet could have been better and the edges of the bracelet felt a little sharp.

I did not think it had a sapphire crystal because of the refraction that most sapphire crystals have vs. mineral. I am pretty sure it was mineral just like the Invicta but no fingerprints!!

The Chinese movement is an unknown while the Miyota as I said before is a proven workhorse. Although the unknown wound nicely and was very accurate-more so than the miyota??

The crown was also very smoothly and easily screwed into the case-good threading.

As for what makes it worth more than the Invicta, nothing in technical terms but in look and feel it is much nicer. The dial and bezel were perfect. The shape of the case and size were nice(No INVICTA written or engraved in the side of the case!!) The crystal what ever it was was flawless. The soldi end links gave a really nice look along with the bracelet with a solid link divers extension.

Again it just comes down to the look and detail. The Chronotac just looks expensive and the details are nicer than the Invicta.

They are both worth what they cost but I think the Chronotac is a nicer watch and I would rather gamble on a nicer looking watch than a cheaper looking poorly executed watch that has a better movement. I could always get another movement. Than again it does come with a Lifetime warranty and Invicta does not.

Just like the Japanese in time Chinese made may become something known for quality. The first things made in Japan were all cheap garbage and now...

And who do you think is assembling those Invicta's???

Damn , Im sparring over watches!! WTF! Nice watch dude.
I respect everyones watches. I cant wait till the day I can afford that ultimate watch. I got my eye ball on a Maurice Lacroix( Pontos collection) black dial with the power reserve sub dial.B-)

That Maurice looks like a nice piece!!

Hey we are talking cheap watches here. I see it as a beater and nothing more.

The problem is once you get your ultimate watch then you will find another ultimate watch!B-)

I thought my Doxa SeaRambler was going to be my ultimate watch, got rid of it, got my second ultimate watch a Sinn U1 and now have a new AlphaTime Sawfish on the way. I still want a SeaMaster, A Marine Master and few others:p

Something tells me I will never be satisfied.

Also I meant no disrespect as I think we all have our unique opinions and I just do not like Invicta but that is not too say they are bad and do not make a fine watch or that you see something I don't. Just a difference of opinion.

Without different opinions we would live in a boring world!

I am also slobbering over a couple of Oris watches. I'm debating if the wife would notice a couple of grand missing from the account. What do you think?:)

Oris watches are excellent. I think you should check out the Oris forum and you will have to have one.

Oh she will noticeB-)

Distract he with a gift???
