I have long wondered why Damasko chose various letter combinations to describe its watches. Professor Google did not help me.

I expect that D stands for Damasko. I'm thinking C stands for chronograph (in both DE and EN), H for hunter (but Jäger in DE), S and DSub for submarine (Unterseeboot in DE). But it would be surprise me if such a German company based its watch designations on English words.

Anyway, we have this:

  • DA
  • DB
  • DC (chronograph?)
  • DH (hunter?)
  • DK
  • DS (submarine?) / DSub2
I'm at a loss to explain A, B and K. Was "A" just used for their original line and B for special runs? And K - I have no idea. Perhaps K has something to do with those watches having only in-house movements.

Please speculate away!
