Update:

Still wearing mine. That is saying something - I almost never sleep with a watch on. But last night I fell asleep with this one on and it didn't bother me at all. It's pretty darn comfortable on the strap. Not saying it's unique, but it's a rarity for me.

The lume is shockingly good. I think TGV mentioned in his review that it was nothing special, but I disagree. When charged it is bright, and it keeps glowing a long time. The pips and patches on the hands are just tiny. But I turned out the lights, without specially "charging" the lume, at around 11:00 and there was still enough glow to tell the time at 5:45 when a barfy 3 year-old woke me up. That's not bad at all, even if my Seikos, PAMs, and NTHs still outperform it.

Pics with bracelet later when I get it sized.

I’m in the same boat with most of you it seems. I have a 6-1/2” wrist and I love vintage watches. I have been eyeing Heuers, Hamilton and LeJour chronos. The question for you is, if the is were a 36mm release, would you be more excited, less excited, or the same?

38mm is as small as I'll go for a modern watch, 36mm for vintage. So this watch at 38mm would have been a pass.

I am really trying to love it, but I can't get over the straight lugs. I understand it might be period correct, but these just aren't my thing, no matter the brand.
I really like everything else. Keep them photos coming and I might finally break [emoji6]

I wonder if I'm going to regret changing my order from the Evil Panda to the Silver? This looks great.
On a separate note, I wasn't thrilled with how the bracelet looks with the straight lugs, but I like the look on strap. Can't wait to get mine on Tuesday.

Here is what mine looks like on a 6.75" wrist:

There are only 2 chrono's that interest me--a Speedmaster Professional, and a TAG Monaco.

I get the whole different strokes for different folks thing, but I just fail to see the interest in the Dan Henry watches. Nothing against him, or those that enjoy them, they're just not for me.

I'll retreat back to my hole now, y'all can carry on.

Pics look great. Awesome news that the endlinks are solid. Although not so awesome for my wallet as it's getting much harder to resist getting one of these.

These are my thoughts exactly, would have looked much better on a bracelet with slightly more curved lugs.

But to be fair, it's not often you see a vintage chronograph with a bracelet, let alone with exact-fitting endlinks. Just a shame because I am much more a bracelet guy, but I may have to let this one slide...

This is the first thread through which I'm poking my head into the Affordable section. I think the 60s Heuer Carrera is among the most beautiful chronographs ever made and vintage sizing is best for my 6.25" wrist. Last year, I set out for one of the more obtainable equivalents of the same era from Hamilton, Tradition, etc.

I ended up with a two-register panda Zodiac from a popular auction site that turned out to be a franken, redialed pile of doodoo with a case that literally had a hole in it and a chrono minute counter which worked some of the time. The unscrupulous seller falsely claimed the watch was not in the same condition as was sold when I returned it (it wasn't in any condition fit for sale really) and the dispute had to be escalated to arbitration before I received my $1500 refund. This was such a headache involving too much money for my comfort that it turned me off vintage watches altogether and still remains my biggest purchasing mistake. I gave up on the idea of having properly sized, classic chrono and returned to my Grand Seikos and five digit Rolexes.

I've never owned a microbrand let alone heard of Dan Henry before this week. When I stumbled upon the DH 1964 by accident, it seemed too good to be true. Heuer-inspired chrono complete with applied indices, dial tachymeter, and sunken registers available in panda colors? And 38mm? In 2018?! This so rarely happens that I'd take it with any movement. Both of my Grand Seikos are HAQ so I don't mind batteries. Ordered on Thursday and #0371 arrived Saturday.

It looks and feels like a vintage watch. The resistance and click of the pusher action is surprisingly similar to something like an old Valjoux 773x. Flyback reset function is also authentic. Crown is well proportioned. Sizing and aesthetics of the hour and minute hands are spot on. Pleased to see the minute hand extend right to the edge of the minute track. Tachymeter printing is very good and embellished by the generously domed crystal. Lume is bright and, more importantly, minimally applied to be true to form. The alternating brush and polish of the case is sharp. Even the caseback is attractive. And it's a screw down! Can't believe this is a $250 watch. The 24 hour register at 3 is needless and this would have been just as beautiful as a "9 and 3" two register chrono but hey, I'm not complaining!

Wish this thing existed when I was hunting for a poor man's Heuer. It would not have only saved me money but major disappointment. Dan Henry is doing something really special here and it takes some stones to release a chronograph under 40mm in this age. Genuinely impressed and thankful I discovered it.

Congrats to all who are receiving their new 1964!

Ordered 3

- no date Evil Panda
- no date Panda
- date silver.

The earlier model 1963 (I have both) gave me a clue as to how wonderful Dan Henry watches are and it took me a few days of thinking over the color choices and date/no date to place my 1964 order.

As a fan of the Heuer Autavia except for the thickness and the price, these 1964 will scratch that itch. Looking forward to their arrival next week.

BTW, I also highly recommend the Dan Henry 1963, which is a tribute to the Breitling 765 CP. The 12-hour bezel is great for travelers keeping track of another timezone, kind of an alternative GMT.

That's exactly why I'm restrained too. I would have preferred white or cream over silver.

Evil Panda seems cool, but I would only go with that color config if it was a two sub dial model, not the three. I'm being picky.

Otherwise seems like a killer deal. I want to read and see more of it before deciding.

Urban Gentry showed one on YouTube but all he did was sploosh all over it like it was the first watch he had ever seen...
