The only mechanical reissue I'm aware of is the Timex Marlin and it uses a Chinese made Seagull movement. I have a feeling the V-conic stuff has been gone for 50+ years.
The Galli S138 uses a Miyota 9039. I think the larger Galli S1 also had a Miyota 9 series in it. Other automatics like the Marlin auto are using Miyota 8 series.
Timex mechanical movements these days are not made by Timex. They source common catalog movements from Sea-gull and/or Miyota.
V-conic was a low-cost method to achieve shock resistance in lieu of a shock absorber like Incabloc. The mechanical movements used by Timex today utilize shock absorbers for the balance.
If you're interested @crownout , all three of these combined cost less than a modern Marlin reissue. The Mercury was $5 at the bottom of an antique store bargain bin.
Thanks, but I was just curious about the movement.
