Not necessarily. Sometimes when I get a new watch I bring my hand up and look at my wrist just to take a look the cool watch I just got without noticing the time at all. Then 30 seconds later I need the time so I do it again. Must look weird to people around me.

I check my wrist constantly throughout the day. Then again most of my day is regimented either through my schedule or a lot of meetings so I dont have a choice.

I work on computers so it's difficult to not to know the time, it's always there, somewhere on the monitor :/

To the average person that has relied on watches and clocks etc, for most of their lives, I believe their subconscious has the accurate time within +- a minute or so.

Some are better at tapping into and being more accurate with telling time without looking at a device.

I don't think anyone can actually rely on their subconscious mind, or trusts it.....so my answer is no..........nobody 'always' knows what time it is.

Obviously some people need to know what time it is, more often than others.

I think the average person seeks out the time, far more often than people think, maybe 100 times +

Pretty much yes. Date too. Day? Not so much. I've broken my week up into two days. It simplifies it from the seven model we have now, which is very poor. I've changed to Saturday and Not-Saturday. On Saturday, I can do whatever I want, as long as I want. On Not-Saturday, I either went to work or have work the next day. And work ruins my life and makes me miserable.

I bill for time so naturally I have to know what time it is. The time I was called, the time I arrived, the time the job was completed, the time I got back to the office, etc. It all gets recorded and written down. On my days off, knowing the time isn't as important yet I wear a much fancier (and more expensive) watch. Oh well...

not really. i don't even notice the time when i'm looking at my watch. i just notice how beautiful it looks and how crazy i am for doing that. i know somebody here shares my sentiment.
Yup! I resemble that remark. I just got my Longines pocket watch serviced and have been carrying that -- and wearing a wristwatch to see if the PW is accurate. So, for the last week, I'm wearing two watches, admiring both... and haven't the slightest idea what time it is!

Ironically, I'm also very attune to the sun. I'm outside most of the day, in familiar country, so if the sun's over "that tree" or my neighbor's house on the hill, I know what time it is. It's pretty nuts to rely on nature's planetary clock and still carry two watches and a cell-phone! I love watches, but they can't compete with the celestial clock we all admire!

At night I watch constellations. Great lume!... so long as it isn't cloudy! :)

I'm the exact opposite. I made it to the office today as dawn was breaking and I'll leave here long after the sun has set. The only time I see the sun is when I step out to pollute my lungs.
