Hi all, the other day I picked up this early bumper E. Borel Co. Super Autosport at a steal for just $18 USD. It is in stunning condition and running perfectly!

The caliber is a 1171 which I believe dates it to around 1940. It is a 'military style' watch although I know this doesn't necessarily mean it was used during the war. It has quite a thick case and is fairly heavy - most of my watches from this era are much lighter and thinner in profile.

I have noticed someone has filed something away on the inside of the caseback, does anyone have any idea what was once written there?

I thought I would just share this beautiful piece, if anyone knows any additional information about it I would really appreciate it! I don't believe these early bumpers are common?

Are you sure with the “all stainless steel”? The lid says “stsinless steel back”, which is normally an indication that the case is made from a different material.

Nonetheless, a magnificent and well equipped watch, and at that price, even better.
