Just wondering, do eta quartz movements have sweep second hands?

What's your interpretation of sweep second in this context ?

 

Center sweep hand, yes, for the 80x.xxx. Look closely you can see the pivot for the second hand. Also when you see the hand sizes given you will see three sizes, hour, minute and second. Not sure why you are asking when the ad says it has a sweep second hand. ???

 

I'm surprised to see an error like that on the Esslinger site, I order from them a lot (parts and tools) and I've never seen a mistake before. I rely heavily on their descriptions (being a newbie) and they've never been wrong before.

I think that the OP means "smooth" sweeping seconds hand like the old Accutron tuning-fork movements of the hybrid movements like the ESA/ETA 9150 series.

A sweep second hand is one that "sweeps" the entire dial, i.e. a second hand in the center of the dial.

Yes, the ETA 8XX series have sweep second hands, there is no error.

Do not confuse 'sweep second hands' with 'a smooth sweeping second hand'.....

to clarify: eta movement's second hands sweep around the dial instead of ticking. Right?

 

??? sweep = center mounted

 

In this context, "sweep" is a bit of a misnomer. I believe the OP wants to know if the watch in question has a second hand with a smooth trajectory in the same manner that many mechanicals have.
