Im considering purchase of a Hamilton Pulsomatic. What is the expected "lifespan" on a watch of this sort? Specifically, Im somewhat skeptical of spending ~$1000 for a digital watch.... Being somewhat new to watch collecting/purchasing, how long would you expect a well-kept watch of this sort last?

No,it has an automatic movement but the time is calculated and displayed digitaly. The base movement to say so is not quartz is a mechanical movement. So the watch is considered to be automatic.

It's not same to a kinetic movement.

Technically it is called a auto quartz, like the Omegamatic back in the '90s. It has a roter, but the time base is a quartz module and the display is LCD, so more similar than different than the watches I pointed out in the thread I linked to. I'll quote the review of the watch in Ablogtoread. " Inside the Hamilton Pulsomatic is the Calibre H1970 automatically generated quartz movement" . Here is the article Hamilton Pulsomatic Watch For 2010.

So Cypher is correct, I was mistaken is using the term kinetic. However it is quartz watch.
