Hi,

Pretty sure I'm not in the right forum! However, this is my favorite forum site, and it doesn't seem to have a perfect fit.

I'm trying to repair an Elgin 8 day aircraft clock from ww 2.

However, the disassembly is proving a little tricky (for a newbe, anyway).

Attached is a photo of a nut with a slot in it. When I unscrew the nut, it doesn't come off, just keeps unscrewing. How do I get this off?

I have one of these too (but mine's a Waltham). It's friggin AWESOME!

Just curious, why are you taking it apart? Has it been serviced? I got mine from a friend who's father flew the B-17D bomber it came out of in WWII. Mine will only run when upright. My watchmaker says it's from years of running without lubrication (I just got it last year), the pivot is misshapen.. But it runs now, and it's the coolest desk clock I've ever seen....

Thanks, man! :-!

I finally got a UV LED to charge my lume, and I shined it on this baby the other day. She glowed orange like a fire b-)! Too bad the lume doesn't even last a full second.
