I signed up for their newsletter etc the other day per your post. Of course no notice on todays launch. 🤔

So maybe I’ll catch it & maybe I won’t.

Live!
Thanks for seeing this through for us 👍 Never did get an email which distances me right out of the gate.

I think I had a Citizen many years ago that was like this. Wonder how it compares with the Momentum. I think my Scurfa will maintain this slot in the box. I’ll reserve judgement….
Thanks again.

Other than the monnin case I don’t see much in this watch. Both the auto & Quartz models use base level movements. Design is very common pedestrian. It’s obvious the Quartz model is the best deal, but if it’s the desire for the monnin case theMomentum Magnum PI watch has all the character. If it’s a quality Quartz one needs in their arsenal then the Scurfa D1 is the runaway leader for value & features. IMHO.

I appreciate the OP’s commitment, & keeping us up-to-speed 😉👍

I like the cleaner, no date dial and the handset of this watch more than the day-date, numeraled (is that a word?) dial and handset of the Magnum PI watch (which I’ve almost bought several times) And I already have 5 D1s. (Stainless, 2 no-date D1s and 2 D1-500s. Though the 2 no dates & 1 -500 are going up for sale. I have way too many watches.
Ha ha - You're a watch collector, a hoarder, you love all watches LOL - I looked at the quartz HGP several times following this threads lead, but I just couldn't do it. 3 months ago might have been different. I had a binge purge calamity over the summer. A huge loss if you flip these inexpensive watches. I bought the Magnum Monnin in the very 1st round. Had psyched myself negatively on the handset, and when it arrived I flipped it the same day. The watch didn't seem very substantial & the handset had potential, but couldn't get used to the proportions vs the original. I've almost bought it again several times LOL

I've flipped probably 10 Scurfa D1's, and this year settled on the 10th Anniversary model (polished, black w/ C3, ceramic lume bezel) It's a great watch that's very alive with the fanciful updates.

Looking forward to the incomings. I'm sure they will be great. (y)

I think you’ve got the best looking D1 of the lot. And yes, the little buggers are addictive. I’m going to start a major collection reduction this month, but I’m keeping the D1 Stainless (I don’t even think it was a “D1” back then) and the -500 yellow. Hope Paul brings back the Silicon.
Thank you. I rather fancy the Silicon as well. 😉 Indeed addictive. I liken them to Vostoks from years back Those multiplied like rabbits. They infiltrated my small collection and I had to sell the lot. 😄

I’m worse than both of you guys. I passed on the HGP, I’ve flipped every D1 I’ve had, and I’m going to be listing my Magnum PI soon. I’m hopeless.
…. & I’m seeing your pendulum swing from 45+mm to 38mm. A whole new bent! Fascinating. 👏👏😄

I would agree that beside the case, not so much going on for the watch.
I have great hope for the case though. Having seen the reproduction of Momentum, Chonoport and others, none of them seem quite on par with the real Monnin manufactured my MRP (lines, angles, sharpness, finishing..).

No doubt that Scurfa is the champion for value. Would love a thinner 300m version without the He escape valve though (I think he was making one before).
Thank you. Very nice 👍

No comparison here.
The HGP is on another level than the Momentum.

Very good quality in every aspect from HGP.
Ah, that’s great news! Price of the Quartz wasn’t too far apart from the Momentum. Hearing about a few with misalignment was disconcerting.

You have a nice pair there then👍
Enjoy!

I owned three of the Momentum SQ.
All three had massive quality problems.

Non working crown (several costumer with the same problem), misaligned bezel (all three), big play regarding handset .....

But the last batch of the SQ the quality was better I think.
Thanks for the comparo of the two. That’s great to know.
Thats what I was getting at when you had to return more than one of the SQ’s, and by the 3rd time I assumed from what you’d said that you must really like the watch (sq). Now maybe not so much?

Overall a shame on the SQ because that one has the interest & personality to my eye. Other than the desire and love for the Monnin in case the the HGP is a bit plain at 1s glance.

Btw. I sold my SQ within 3 hours of receiving it 😁

Cheers, & enjoy the Monnin(s). I’ll enjoy your dramatic pics 👍

^^^ Congrats Mougino! Looks Great! (y) 🥳

^^^ That Black Mecha looks great! Now they'll rake in another round of sales for the PVD fans. Now with that release I think they really should have done the orange in MechaQuartz.

Thanks for posting "cuthbert"

Hey Team, Can someone tell me if the HPG is any bigger on the wrist than the Scurfa D1 please? I know the Scurfa is beefier. I'd like to feel at 42mm vs 40mm the HGP would be slightly wider, but in pics it looks the same. I also think the HGP wears smaller than it's specs suggest?

Thank you

Borrowing your pic JeepDad for comparison

To me, the HGP actually wears the same or even a little smaller than my Scurfa’s. The HGP case is thinner and the bezel narrower which I’m guessing is what is making it feel that way.
Thanks "Lawrence648" - I came to that conclusion and was seeking confirmation. The Scurfa D1 is deceptive and wears more like a 41mm to me. It has a lot of presence for it's size. I had the Momentum SQ for a day, and had a bee in my bonnet and sold it promptly. I had a phobia of the handset and also felt it wasn't very substantial on the wrist.

I expect the HGP is of better quality but still svelte on the wrist. It was actually this new PVD announcement that got me aroused LOL. All black cases appear smaller still on the wrist as well. Heck, I have my PVD D1 10th Anni, so I'm gonna think it over. I'll watch the sales for, and may go SS

Thanks for the feedback on this peeps!

HGP response:

FYI, they also told me there are only 2 of the black pvd models left.
& if that’s the case, now there remains only 1 😉 I succumbed. Thank you gents 😫😄
