How would you customize it?

Like @Nokie, my choice would be a Santos, too. A blue one like the one I own, with an upgraded, nicely-finished movement. Easy peasy.

 

I’ve been getting mixed results online. Some say you need to be a whale, but lots say you don’t. Maybe the ship has very recently sailed?

 

I was told the program has been so popular since the article came out in 2022, the restriction to whales is very recent.

I'm not sure you really have to be so much a whale, as have a good relationship with your SA and some level of buying history. I'm not a whale, but I have a good relationship with my SA, and that's what she emphasized was more important than being "A whale." She has talked to me a few times about doing something custom, as she has done some for other clients. She said the main drawback is that now there is about 2 year wait.

 

This is interesting and I would not mind the 2 year wait. I'll have an engraving its a "1 of 1 piece" too on the back while at it.

 

You could have it engraved 1 of 1, however, Cartier holds all rights to whatever watch they create for you and reserve the right to make more of them should they choose to.

I asked about this program at three different Cartier boutiques.

LV didn't know about it and after checking told me it was unavailable.

The Boutique on Greene Street in NYC had not heard of it and never got back to me after leaving my contact info.

The HQ on 5th Avenue in NYC put me in touch with a sales associate who had experience with the program and he submitted my interest to Paris. Waiting to hear.

I think this is not as easy as it was when the article first came out, however, if I can get a mechanical Tank Louis with a full guilloche white dial/matching deployant buckle in platinum (w/Ruby crown) or yellow gold, I would be really happy.

 

I think it will also be more expensive due to the customization. But if it makes you happy it will be worth it.

 

I wonder, if the WGTA0011 (manual wind/large Tank Louis) is listed on the Cartier website for $13K, what premium is charged for a customized (full guilloche) dial? or to have a platinum case? Or both?

I will report back if I hear from HQ....in the meantime, what would be guesses for the prices of these customized upgrades?

 

An acquaintance ordered a platinum Tank LC in platinum, with Breguet style hands, and a salmon colored dial. He hasn't given an exact price, but based on what was said I believe it was close to $30K. He took delivery about a year ago.

 

I asked Cartier boutique here about this service. The manager has taken my request and will inform me after getting response from HO. Let’s wait and see. Will inform here when I get response.

You don’t need to have that much order history. I have a bespoke piece from them en route. It’s just slow as fuccccckkkk lol

For color, have about 4 or 5 cartiers. I’m guessing you could get in with less.
