I collect wristwatches, not watch packaging.

Other people here probably feel differently, and they routinely post here about their G-Shock's missing outer boxes and the small plastic bags that Macy's discarded.

 

Not so important, as long the watch are brand new no defects.

If it's a limited edition or a special model or if you plan to sell it, then it might be an issue, otherwise I would't worry about it.

I bought a DW-5030C at an online shop but it came to me without hang tag. The watch is in mint condition though. I just want to know how important is a hang tag to you?

Personally I feel it's less than a complete set without the tag. Some retailers keep the tag for inventory or reordering purposes. You could ask the seller if they can provide the tag. I've had success this way.

 

The seller just asked for an apology that the one who prepared the shipment might misplaced the hang tag.

How important is it to you? That's what matters

 

I like to see a new watch come with one just because, well, it's supposed to be there. Then it goes into the box and I never think about it again. :-d

 

If I am paying full retail I want everything to be there. But life is too short to stress over something like a tag.

I usually end up throwing them away with the box myself. Some people really like them.

Missing stuff like that is a bit annoying but over time you'll get used to not having it. For me it was the box on a 30th anniver model.

 

Bells and whistles to me. What I really care is the watch itself.

Can be important if you buy for the reason of selling them later.. But i will probably never sell any of my G's.. So I don't care about them. Its not important to me.. But the right box and tin is very important to me, if a limited edition does not have the right packagaing, I won't buy it.

 

It's a pity if it does come without it, but it is on the other not that important. I noticed that if you buy a G-Shock in Japan store, it is cut off and thrown away. Note that Limited Edition is all relative in Japan. It means often that you can buy it at any electronics shop around the corner everywhere for a few months.

I have never obsessed about not having the tag, sometimes I get one and sometimes I don't. Even though I do enjoy seeing it for some reason....It don't bother me over about 30 seconds, as by then I have that G out playing with the functions!

 

Very important for pieces I admire on a pedestal, and totally disregarded for my daily beaters and rotations.

 

Not important at all. The hang tag gets tossed into a box or the trash. I have no desire to own watches that are so delicate or collectible that I need to keep a hang tag. thats just me.

 

If you are a serious collector with an aim to resell it in 20 years with box/tag/manual (so it's just an investment) then I can see the need for a tag. Of course if you were a serious collector you wouldn't need to ask the question. But to most "normal" people it's nice to have but not the "be all and end all" of buying a G-shock.
