My IWC watch box, which I got when I bought my IWC secondhand, is made of a black, rubber type material. It's turning into a soft sticky mess. Unfortunately I don't have the outer box, so that leaves it open to the environment to collect fuzz, dog hair, etc. Is there something I can treat it with to keep it from degrading? IWC doesn't give away their watch boxes, so I'd like to keep it in relatively good shape. Several of my other watch box internals have basically fallen apart. They're now stored in a climate controlled safe, but I don't know how people stored them before I got them.

Try this stuff. Not only is it the best preservative for both natural and synthetic rubbers, but it will actually heal pre-existing damage due to aging, to a large extent. After trying many brands of preservative in the past, and researching the hell out of it, this is the only product I bother to use now. Definitely steer clear of Armor-All and similar treatments that contain silicones.
