Is this real? Seriously…

I made a post this week about choosing between a Seiko gold tuna solar or the Citizen retro titanium. Well, I ordered the Citizen from Amazon at a good discount. Here is what came and I’m shocked. It’s an obvious fake. The bezel is broken, the crown isn’t screwdown, the case isn’t titanium, and the band is cheap silicon. The lugs are 20mm - supposed to be 24mm! I just got it this morning and I’m still in shock. I will certainly send back for a refund.
The tags, pelican case, and dive extension are real, so my guess is that someone bought a real one then sent back a fake for refund. I’ve bought from ADs - in person and online, preowned eBay, Buyee, and Amazon and never had this happen. Has anyone ever experienced this? I’m still in shock with this being a garbage fake - it’s not even close!

The greatest thing about Amazon is their return policy.

Terrible back alley fake. In addition to returning the watch through Amazon, I’d also message the seller directly.

I think that's a good theory. You probably should mention that with the return so it doesn't get sold off again.

Likely case is that someone bought a wish.com “citizen” and another from Amazon. Then did a return of the Amazon.

Or the Amazon store selling this watch is peddling fake crap. What’s the name of the store?

A few months ago I purchased two of those 4" (?) outdoor LED floodlights.
The correct box arrived but inside it were two 2" bulbs, and without the proper packing they were both broken.

Amazon had no problem sending me more, but they did request I return the two busted bulbs.

Issue is, unless SPECIFICALLY requested by manufacturers, Amazon warehouse has only 1 bin which puts both Sold by Amazon products as well as third party supplied products as long as UPC code matches. This causes unscrupulous 3rd party sellers to send in obvious (and not so obvious) fakes in and the warehouse workers will just put that into your box. Of course, this could also be the case of returned item with wrong thing in the box as well.

I remember buying Timken Wheel bearings for my car from Autozone and 3 times(!!), I received OBVIOUSLY used bearings. 3rd one, I opened the box right at the store and it did not even have outer race on the bearing - obvious it was used as often outer race is punched out of the knuckle.

THIS is the explanation. Watchuseekers need to learn about Amazon's stock comingling system and all the fakery it enables. It's not a problem with a specific watch, it's a problem across nearly all Amazon products, including inexpensive items like lotions or face masks. As long as there's a demand, there will be fakes made and sold. And thanks to the system they have created, Amazon literally (and perhaps purposefully) can't do anything about it.

I had a similar thing happen though not with a watch. Bought a micro sd card off Amazon, a 1Tb when sandisk first came out with them. New and sold by Amazon. It came in the correctly labeled blister pack, but someone had carefully, but noticeably, opened it and sealed it with a 32Gb card. Amazon let me keep the wrong one and sent out the correct one ASAP.

I’m not a huge Amazon fan, but they do handle mistakes very well!

I can about guarantee that workers in the Amazon return department really don't care if a fake is returned then repackaged to sell again. It's not like they're experts in every product and can spot a fake with a cursory glance. If their job is anything like Amazon drivers they're forced to do ten hours' work in an eight hour day.
