If you want to know more, pop the case back open... and then there'll be a LOT of browsing the Ranfft archive, since there's - I jest you not- a ton of Kienzle movements listed. Don't be surprised if you find a one-jewel pin lever wonder inside, Kienzle was known for using them.

Pretty sure it has not even one jewel. If ever a Kienzle has jewels under the hood it is proudly mentioned on the dial.

Nice find. 60s is correct. Typical for,this,time is the stainless steel back, the case is brass with a chrome layer.

 

Kienzle was also famous for their clocks found on German car dashes. The one in my '65 Karmann Ghia still runs sometimes....

 

I have owned 16 Kienzle watches that I can recall, all been good except for one that would not run and I had to send back. Another I bought knowingly as non-working and sold it for around what I paid for it eventually. Range from 7 jewels to a couple of 25 jewel autos. Maybe some 0 jewels as well?

 

Looks a nice enough watch, the numbers on the dial suggest later on in the 1960s to me.

 

The indices remind me of the Russian dress watches, can't remember which brand

As marks55 mentions, Kienzle made some awesome wall & table clocks. I own 2 of their eight day quarter chimers & they run like a champ. The wall clock was bought during my Grandad's wedding and it looses only ONE MINUTE in 8 DAYS.!!

 

I like their legendary Heinrich Moller design clocks as well as the watches. I don't own a clock though.

 

They also had great mantel clocks.

 

The "Sport" range is nice.
