Which is better: Tudor BB41 or Longines Spirit?

Longines vs Tudor: Which is better? How do they compare?

I’m interested in both the Longines Spirit L3.810.1.53.2 and the Tudor Black Bay 41 M79540-0009. At the moment, I only plan on buying one. I love them both equally and can’t decide which one to purchase. I started to wonder from a quality, durability/build, hierarchy standpoint, how the 2 brands compare to each other. I understand that Tudor is the cousin or whatever of Rolex, but is that the only thing that gives it more worth then the Longines brand? Or do both brands sit somewhat equally on the list of which watch brand is better?

Edit: For kicks I added the Omega Railmaster Co‑axial Master Chronometer 40mm. It has a similar look of what I’m going for.

Edit (11-14-22): After much deliberation, research, this poll and all the comments; I decided on the Longines. Thank you all for your input! I love it!

Yes. The snow flakes always bothered me. Unless the indices are square then it works.

now I’d also ad most long ones have eta movements so service is quick easy and cheap. I’ve read quite a few horror stories about Tudor. I know quite a few Tudor also had eta movements but I believe they’re getting away from that. Again I’m not a fanboy so I can’t provide much useful detail.

I have both a Tudor gmt and a Longines master collection and I find themequal in fit and fish for the price. My longines actually gets more notice but that’s because it’s a moon phase chrono and highly polished. The gmt isnt

I really like my bb41. I've only had it 4 or 5 months, but I've worn it a lot and traveled with it. There my be some very fine hairline scratches, but I can't see them. I haven't found it to be any more scratch prone than any other polished watches. The bracelet is brushed so it's only the bezel and sides of the case that are polished. My only complaint would be the somewhat pedestrian movement, but it is regulated to +1 sec/day, so I guess I can't complain too much.

Note to self: must remember to wipe off watch before taking pic. Jeez that looks filthy.

They are BOTH nice.
My suggestion...which I did, btw, is to go and try them both on!
That is the best way to know which you like the best.
For me, it was clearly the Longines Zulu time (grey & green).
Once you put them both on your wrist, YOU will know which is best for you.

I like them both…. I’d take the Tudor personally. Can’t go wrong with either.

What does that mean. Credibility? Longines has been in business longer than Tudor. I buy with the following criteria. First, how is the quality of the case, dial, etc. Second, how accurate, precise, and durable is the movement. Aesthetics is also important. Can you stand to look at the dial for years to come.

Either choice is good.

Some people will say the BB36 looks confusing because it's a dive watch dial without a bezel. But for me it works and I loved owning mine. 2 years at +2spd.

I actually find the Longines confusing because it's a mash up of a classic pilots dial and then some quite ornate, borderline art-deco features. I really love the spec but I find some of the details (indices, chapter ring, polished links) a bit fussy - for me.

Which I suppose is the point. Either watch is good but other than specs and price they aren't very similar. Which one sings to you?

I’ve always been into watches but this is my first venture into the luxury watch price range. I’ve probably looked at a thousands watches online in the past couple weeks. These 2 are my favorite and I’m having a hard time deciding on which to go with. They both 🫤 kinda speak to me. I may have to flip a coin. 😂

Both are good brands with lots of history.

Personally I would choose the Longines, which to my eye looks far more interesting, the Tudor looks plain and boring.

Go fondle both brands at the AD. One will stand out to you. That's what I do. Disregard the opinions here. The brand fanboys from each side will be cheering for their team. Get the one that YOU like.

I don't think that's strictly true, to be fair. I'm a fan of Tudor and own two of their watches - I don't own a Longines (although have been tempted by this one). My reply was based purely on which one I'd prefer, I simply find the Longines by far the more stylish / interesting. The BB needs a pop of colour, it's too neutral I think. The Spirit's sweep hand and gold detailing might be too much for those who like utilitarian design, but for me it hits the spot.

Nice options, of the two, I pick Longines.

I own two Tudors and two Longines. I love both brands. In this case, Longines all the way. For me, the non-diver Black Bays look odd - like the dive bezel was lost and replaced with something from a parts bin.

It’s a tough one, me and my girlfriend both wear Tudors daily and I absolutely love the quality. There’s something very satisfying about the action of the clasp due to the ceramic ball bearings they use in the closure to prevent wear. You get a beautifully crisp and assuring click every time you close them. The winding action is buttery smooth on both as well and they keep excellent time.
I can’t comment on the Longines from personal experience, but for what it’s worth, the Zulu Time is very much on my wish list - just be aware that the Longines tend to have a longer lug to lug, so depending on your wrist size and shape, this may be an issue for you from a wearability perspective. I don’t think you would be disappointed with either, but from experience you definitely wouldn’t be disappointed with a Tudor.

I kinda feel the same way about both, tbh. Both make a few really nice looking watches, and a lot of stuff I would personally never wear. Quality is probably about comparable, but tudor is in a slightly higher price bracket across the board. So in that sense, maybe Longines, I guess? On the other hand, I own a bb58 and no longines, so if the only vote that counts is the one you put money behind, then there you go.
