Is that a Rolex?

If I place this watch next to my Submariner and showed it to someone that knew nothing about watches, I would be willing to bet that they would think the Orient was more expensive. I am amazed how well constructed this watch is on the outside. Even the sweeping second-hand looks as if its gliding (and I know it is a lesser movement than the Rolex, but for some reason it moves very swiftly in this design).

The black face looks dark grey in certain angles and I think that gives the watch distinction. The orange bezel sparkles and the cursive lettering looks very cool. I like that there is a Spanish language day of week option in the date wheel, it gives the watch an additional feature that makes people do a double take when they see it. I have been asked several times what Rolex model it is. The metal band is nice and has a modern look. Size is perfect for me, as I can read everything without difficulty.

My wife gave me this watch as a Christmas present, so it will remain in my collection. I do have a few wish list items for this watch though:

· Not a fan of the button to change the day. I have hit it with my hand inadvertently when getting up from the floor. I also think it takes away from the design.
· Lume is almost non-existent. For a company associated with Seiko, this is clearly a disappointment.
· When the crown is pulled out, it feels flimsy. I am afraid I could break it if I am not careful. None of my other watches has this feeling.
· The clasp at the bottom is thin. This is very apparent if compared to the Rolex or one of my Citizen watches.

Nice review mate and i agree with all, ive just got the black mako xl its a stunning watch, my girlfriend thought its the most expensive and best looking watch i own lol.
The folded end links are poor but it hasnt made it unwearable, the bracelet is a nice untapered 22mm, it doesnt feel too bad on, but they should have spent the extra $1 for solid end links.
The lumes poor but its a sporty/dress diver imo, not a diver one would use to dive although im sure it would cope fine.
But the watch is so nice i think most can overlook these things, for 150 bones its an outstanding watch, i like it so much ill be buying the blue and maybe orange dial.
Great review mate, i love yours, looks slick, glad you love it
cheers

Nice review. I'm glad you love your Mako but if you honestly believe the build quality is equal to a Submariner then you need to sell your Sub. Or get it fixed, because it must have been put through a garbage disposal. I've handled a Mako, they are nice for the money, but in way shape or form in the same level of craftsmanship or have the overall feel of absolute quality that a Submariner has. It's cool if you love them both for different reasons, but no sense in owning a $5k watch you believe is built to the same specs as a $100 watch

Hi mate, in fairness i dont think he is saying or suggesting that, i think what he is saying is it looks like a watch many times its price, i agree with him, until i had one in hand i didnt realise how beautiful they are, and i agree that most punters would have no idea which is the more expensive watch.
cheers
