Nicely done review! Makes me want to get one!

 

It's so cheap, it's pretty much a no-brainer. When I ordered mine (last week), it was sale priced at $33. Someone (here, I think) posted a coupon code, "THANKS" which got me another 20% off. So, that came to $26 plus $5 shipping. Can't beat it! It's a fun watch, which will be even more fun, if I can find a good bracelet for it.

Strapsco has some 16mm stainless steel bracelets. Maybe those would work?

 

I'm a simple man, I see @Racer88's review I click. Excellent write-up, as always! The amount of cool for that money is through the roof.

 

Mine is on the way, all the way to the UK with PP costing more than the watch lol

I plan on getting a 20mm black silicon strap for mine (or whatever size it is from outside point of lug to lug), and then snipping the ends of so it fits snug.

I trimmed a Timex branded Casio replacement strap (TX 2130? @ $9.99) from Walmart......not ideal but much more comfortable for me.....cheers p

 

Exactly what I am looking to do, get a cheap silicon strap and doing that, I think it looks ok, when not lit the black will match the strap nicely.

Ordered one on the 18th and it still hasn't shipped. Had an earlier order cancelled because it was out of stock. This time I thought I had lucked out, but looks like I may once again be SOL.

If you want a decent bracelet and display, you could get the reissued Hamilton PSR. A bit more and sacrilegious to some, but on the grey market they’re about half price last I checked.

$745 retail. The cheapest I'm seeing on Ebay is in the $600s.

So, yeah.... pass. It's fun to "go retro," but not THAT much fun.

 

The best bracelet option is to find a vintage 18 or 19mm that flares out to around 21mm. File down the ends evenly to 16mm.

Quite a few good options pop up on eBay.

Has anyone else noticed odd calendar behavior? I checked mine today (I have 2 Griffy's), and both showed the date as being January 3rd 2021.

It's like it thought the month of Dec only had 28 days. The module is supposed to be programmed up to 2059.

Feel free to check yours. I'm curious about this potential glitch.

 

Just checked. Yep! Mine was on 1-4 (January 4th) just now (it's 1-1). Went to settings and the year was correct. That's weird.

 

Cool Watch, back in the 70's one of my Uncles, now deceased, was a Jobber and used to sell these. Or Watches that looked exactly like them.

 

I don't think I could bring myself to wear that watch. Funny how tastes change. And revive. Or not.

Mine arrived today. I'd probably keep it on the OEM bracelet if I wasn't afraid of dropping it while putting it on. I'll head out to the shop and try to find a replacement in a bit.

 

Yeah.... a bit of a trick getting it on without dropping it. But, I figured it out.

That said... I'd be interested in seeing what you find as a replacement bracelet.

 

Pretty sure mine did the same thing for the month of November. Hopefully it was just a glitch for 2020.

I set mine for 11:58 PM Dec 28th 2021, and it advanced to the 29th at 12, which is promising being that it seemed to think Dec 2020 had 28 days.

 

I bought two. Both had the date bug but I find it more amusing than troublesome. I wonder if they had to write entirely new code and couldn’t reuse the same (presumably bug free) code as their other LCD watches?

 

Mine had the date issue too, however, I read the directions included with the watch and was able to correct the date. Just saying...

 

The review is nice.
The watch looks nice and seems to have a resonable size. BUT this watch looks good only when it is off. When you press the button the huge blurry digits look ridiculous. Like a bedside alarm clock.The screen is the same screen to be found on every 1eu cheapo led watch.

I grew up wearing led watches. Big part of their charm is the crispness, the beautiful shape of their digits and the nice red tone of their screens.

 

The crystal has a dark tinted application on the inside. Some of the first ones released had an imperfect tint, which makes the digits look blurry. I have one from the 2nd batch that has perfectly crisp digits.

The red color is created via a thick plastic filter over the actual LEDs on the module.
