Hi all,

I am deciding between two Day-Date variants and would appreciate some input.

I have narrowed down to these two WG Day-Dates below (YG / RG gold appears too loud for my preference), both new models with ceramic inserts and new movement.

1. Day-Date 36mm, Silver Dial & Gold Indices (REF: 128239 - released in Baselworld 2019)

2. Day-Date 40mm, Silver Dial & Diamond Indices (REF: 228239)

By way of background, this will be my daily wearer in business settings. I am leaning towards the 36mm, being the classic size of reference, however I have some concerns about legibility (WG indices on a silver dial) and a friend mentioned that the 40mm fits better on my wrist and the dial is better proportioned.

I have not had the chance to see this exact 36mm in person with the above configuration. If anyone has seen this and have pictures that would be appreciated!

I have tried on a couple Day-Date 36mms and 40mms and have taken a few pictures per the below. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Other watches in my collection / on wait list: Panerai PAM 590; Rolex Submariner ND; Rolex GMT WG Meteorite (still waiting for AD to call); PP Nautilus 5711; PP Calatrava 5196G; PP World Time 5131R

Wrist shots

1. Day-Date 36mm

2. Day-Date 40mm

You didn't state what your wrist size is but by looking at the pictures, a 36mm suits you better. I have 40mm and 48mm sports watches but would happily wear a 36mm for a dressier watch like a Datejust or Day-Date.

You friend is wrong. Just because he is used to seeing a big watch doesn't mean that you need a big watch on your wrist.

If it MUST have diamonds... this is my vote.

I saw that you're on the list for a meteorite GMT. An AD I visited this wk had the day date meteorite with diamonds on the showroom floor. I got to spend some time with it, I think i'd get this day date would be the one if it had to be white gold/ platinum.
