Question regarding Omega Speedmaster Pro Boxes

I just purchased an Omega Speedmaster Pro REF 311304223001006 from Overstock.com. I got what I thought was a smoking price on the watch so I was leery of what I was going to get. The watch arrived today and to my disappointment, it did not come in the moonwatch presentation box with the lupe, NATO strap etc. Instead, it came in a very nice wooden box. The outer box said it was produced in January of 2015. Does anyone know if this is the box I should have received assuming that the watch i got is NOS and a couple years old?

You should have got the big box with all of the goodies.

I don't believe Speedmaster professionals ever came in this box. The 3570.50 (and 3573.50) came in the old red box. Once the new model number was used - they should all come in the big box along with a bracelet that has screws instead of pin and tubes.

Your bracelet has screws, and furthermore even has the newer clasp with the more central pushers and less holes, which makes it a more recent revision than when the big box/new model number was first introduced.

Welcome to the forums! I quite like that box...

Experts will chime in, but to me, it looks like the newest version of the watch (with the bracelet with screws), but the watch box has been switched out. Perhaps the presentation moon box was sold and this wooden box was substituted. That wooden box itself is a nice box that is not commonly given out. Some AD's save them back for good customers, etc. As far as I know the standard is the red box.

I got my Planet Ocean in the same wooden box, it's an impressive box and in every other case I'd be happy, but in the case of the OP, the Moonwatch presentation box is in another league and i'd be pretty miffed if I didn't get it. Did the sales description mention packaging?

I bought my Speedy Pro last December at Dubai airport and in fact the first salesperson I spoke to was going to sell the Speedy to me without the big presentation box, straps, loupe etc. It was a deal breaker for me and I walked away, went to another part of the airport and spoke to another salesperson who confirmed that the Speedy Pro had a special box and other gear and that it should be sold that way. I bought it through that salesperson. I suppose I had the benefit of buying in person, but I wanted the whole set that's supposed to come with the watch.

Have you raised the matter with the seller?

Speed Pro with REF 311304223001006 is certainly supposed to come with the big black presentation box. I recently bought one from Joma Shop and it came with this box. Unless you paid significantly less than the Joma Shop gray market price, I would expect the box and send the watch back.

They have one left on their website for sale ...I'd call it the worst deal of the century with or without the right box. But yeah, you got the wrong box. The wooden box is a huge upgrade over the red. But special presentation box is the only way to go for this watch.

You might want to give them crap. They purposely intended to sale this to a naive soul. Else they would have gave you the red box. They hoped the wooden box would be nice enough imo.

You definitely over paid and got the wrong box. I do have two of those wooden boxes that my new SMPc and Seamaster 300 Master came with and they are very nice but they aren't what yours should have come with. Did you pay the 6700+ I see the Speedy going for on Overstock currently???? That is madness, especially with the wrong box and a ome year warranty. I would definitely return it and buy from Chitownwatch or one of the other reputable sellers on here and you will have plenty leftover to buy another watch or just add back to the old bank account/watch fund.

....even if he bought the ~$4600 one on Overstock, it's still $600 more than Chitown and with the wrong box (which has a market value of around $500-700 alone).

Take advantage of their return policy and send it back -- although if you've removed all your tags/packaging you're not getting a full refund according to the fine print.

Thanks for all the input. I am traveling so I am just catching up with thread. I spoke with Overstock via chat and explained the situation, sent them this thread link and they said they would be sending out the correct box. I really doubt they can do this but since I am traveling this week, there is nothing i can do at this point anyway. I will follow up with them when I get home. As for pricing, I ended up paying about $3500 for the watch. They sent me a coupon for 14% off any item and then i got another 10% off for signing up for their credit card which I used the for the purchase and will pay off immediately if I end up keeping the watch. I thought $3500 was a pretty good deal, but not without all the correct accessories.

$3500 isn't terrible for Gray market. Bought mine from Joma for $3,250 with the right box and a Joma warranty, which may or may not be worth much. I figure the savings over an AD would pay for a service if needed, but it is running like a top.

FWIW, I bought my Speedy Pro from Chitown and Sergey accidentally sent me the wrong box...he sent the one in the OP's picture. I contacted him and he apologized and immediately sent me the correct Speedy Pro presentation box (and even let me keep the wooden one). The watch itself was in a small plastic clamshell box with warranty and pictogram card. My gut feeling is that the watch doesn't come from Omega in the presentation box, and that they are matched up at the point of sale. The box that the presentation box shipped in was stamped with Omega info, but had no watch serial number on it. Like this: (not my picture)

Watches and boxes are shipped separately hence the error in matching them... not all buyers are savvy enough to verify the watch and its accompanied accessories they purchased over here. I guess there are a lot more mismatch, especially by grey dealers. But this could be a honest mistake as not all the grey market sellers and ADs are well trained.

To the OP, hope you can get the correct box set and accessories that come along with it... if not, either return it or insist on a significant partial refund.

In the mean time, just enjoy the watch.
