Yeah, that's absolutely true. I was expecting more of a 50/50 split in opinion at worst, so it was quite entertaining to see the response

I’d second this. I think that Barton is a great strap, just not on that piece.

Hmm to be honest with you I'm not digging that strap very much either. I feel like this watch should be on a leather strap. And if it must be blue not such a bright shade of it. A dark blue leather strap would be more fitting in my opinion.

But my opinion is meaningless. Wear what you like.

 

You do you. If you like your Ginza on rubber, then be happy.

Personally I think i think it's not the right combo. Rubber is sporty, or even marine. The ginza is artful, or even elegant.

But who cares what I think. It's your wrist and your eyeballs.

 

Many people don't value plastic and rubber much. As an experiment, post the price of a popular rubber dive strap and see the reaction.

 

If you're asking, I think it's bit ugly. I agree w people who said that on reddit. I don't agree with reddit, because reddit is a place....and that can comprise a lot of wus members too, and vice versa.

I'd vote nay. That bright blue suggest a summertime vibe, the dial doesn't. Maybe if it were a gray or a midnight blue?

 

The shade of blue is a tad light IMHO. A little darker would match it nicer. But hey it’s your watch and your style!

 

That's far from my first choice of strap on that piece. It's genuinely out of place to my eyes. If you want to go with a rubber strap for it, I'd rather have it on an original Seiko design, and go with a reproduction from Uncle Seiko, whichever one you like best. Otherwise, there's a whole host of leather straps that could pair nicely with that.

Just because the people are on Reddit, it doesn't mean their opinions are less valid than the ones here. At the end of the day, opinions are opinions, and people are people.

 

I don't do reddit, but I do do WUS and I own a number of Seiko watches.

I agree with a number of other posters in that the strap comes across as a poor fit for the watch head. The head has so many interesting lines and facets. It merits a strap that can harmonize. The Barton (and I actually have Bartons on several of my Seiko) looks too casual sporty. The white underlayer makes it even more so. Like beach walk casual. The watch head can achieve a sporty look, but not with such a plain strap.

So, I don't like the combination. And I also don't think the combination works particularly well. Now, put it on a navy Barton Elite Silicone and the impression would be different. The darker tone itself would go a long way in adding gravitas.

 

My only critique would be the colour of the strap is competing with the dial's colour, but that is me.

You may want to try a different Barton Elite Silicone strap colour that will not compete with the dial, such as the Cool Grey Top / Black Bottom or the Smokey Grey Top / Black Bottom. Afterwhich, post your Seiko Ginza SPB259—with one or both of those colour choices—on Reddit r/watches and see if the herd likes it.

Congrats on your Seiko Ginza, BTW.

If you like it, rock it. Personally, I’m not a fan of that strap on that watch. I like the color, but I don’t think the strap design/material works.

 

What strap did it originally come with?

 

It comes on an OEM bracelet. It's not the worst in the world, but I wasn't particularly a fan of it. I should try it again at some point, though

 

doesn’t look terrible, just to sporty for that watch, it needs a nice leather IMO

That dial has beautiful & delicate blues/greens/greys. And then that candy blue rubber strap kinda ruins it, imo. Or at least, turns it from a luxury/dressy watch to colourful Casio vibes. Not a bad thing! But I don't think it really does the watch justice.

 

Rubber chuffs my wristlets.
